Never considered benching Milroe. Is that coach talk? Or do we think he’s genuine?

Why would he say otherwise?

I’m glad one of the reporters had the balls to ask him the question.

Who cares, Milroe is gone. Deboer finna eat

He has a draft eligible QB you want to move on. You do not publicly disparage him

Honestly, lean genuine. He didn’t have a clue about what the reporters were asking him about Bernard going down at the 1 and ending the game in the SC post game despite being asked twice. He literally may think benching starting QB isn’t a good idea and can’t intuit or analyze when it’s so bad that you have to.
He also indicated that he never considered that Milroe could throw a pick prior to halftime in the SC game when he was calling timeouts with 13 seconds to go. I think he legitimately may be missing some of the intuition and in-game analytical thinking that great head coaches have. Hope I’m wrong or that his X’s and O’s can overcome them long term.

It would reflect more positively on his understanding of the game and prevent the perception that he’s out of touch. A straightforward response like, “Yeah, Jalen struggled to find his rhythm, and we considered giving Ty some snaps, but ultimately decided to let Jalen finish it out,” would have been enough. That kind of honesty would show he’s at least somewhat aligned with what everyone else is seeing.

That would be stupid to say, especially if he wants Milroe to go pro.

Does no one at Baumhowers every Thursday yell at him to bench Jalen? I mean does he just never hear from the fans? I know it wouldn’t change anything, but I wish his seat was hotter over this

After the Tenn game, I don't think they took callers on "Hey, Coach!"

No, it wouldn’t. Milroe doesn’t dictate what happens next year. If DeBoer avoided addressing the issue out of concern that Milroe might return if he’s not drafted, then DeBoer has some serious self-reflection to do. As the head coach, he has the authority to tell Milroe to transfer or make it clear that he won’t be the guaranteed starter. He’s the one in charge.

Also locked responses on social media. That was embarrassing. The optics on DeBoer are very poor with things like this and his squinting, vacant expression in his Walmart hoodie.

- We dug ourselves a hole in the first quarter. The turnovers gave them great field position."
- “Loved the fight from the team” late in the first half.
- “Just got to finish some drives there at the end of the fourth quarter.”
- DeBoer said he wants the guys coming back to remember this feeling.
- DeBoer said “no I didn’t” when asked if he considered a change at quarterback with Jalen Milroe struggling early. “I saw a fighter. The fight in his eyes. As long as I see that, I want to hang in there with the guys this program means a lot to.”
- DeBoer asked if this season was successful. “I think there’s a lot of things you take from it.” “People see what happens on Saturday, but it’s guys choosing to stay here. Guys choosing to go from one week to the next when you’re on a little bit of a rollercoaster in the middle of the season.”
- DeBoer said Alabama needs to learn from the mistakes in this game going into next year. “We’re going to learn from those lessons, move forward and be better next year because of it.”
- DeBoer on inability to keep momentum going in second half: “The losses were the ones that hurt us. A sack, being behind the chains. That’s what they thrive on.”
- DeBoer on his time with Jalen Milroe: “I think everyone would probably feel the same feeling I have. The guy always speaks about the team. He always speaks about his teammates. It’s not about him. He leads that way every day in our program.” ... “The fight in him, the ability to move forward ... I thought that’s one area he’s really improved, especially the last half of the season. I think our guys appreciate that in him.”

So if you have a rb that fumbles 3 times in a game you'll leave him in coach? As long as the player has fire he doesn't care how badly he costs his team??
This guy has no clue...players struggle, not that I've ever seen one player struggle this bad, you've got to realize it and put someone else in there until they get settled or their head on right.

Pretty much confirmed these coaches are paid too much and don't really give a frick. If my company had to pay me $60 million to go away???
