Sam Pittman is still a failure of a coach. His team has no poise (Penalties, turnovers, and giving up when up).

Building a team, you should pay linemen on both sides of the ball, then a quarterback. Pay tight ends. All other offensive skill positions can be points by committee.

We need linebackers and secondary, should pay those guys.

But worrying about running backs and wide receivers shouldn’t happen, if we have a quarterback who can go through progressions.

Should have won 2-3 more games but Sam is good for 2-3 losses that we shouldn’t have. 9-4 is a good season for us, not great. 8-5 is gonna happen more than we like. 7-6 and worse is a who cares and we are starting to celebrate mediocrity.

I think to say we were mediocre this year is probably charitable. We finished 11th out of the 16 teams in the conference. We struggled in games we should not have struggled in. Beating Tennessee and not getting blown out by Texas were the highlights. We were soundly beaten at home by Ole Miss and LSU. Our long losing streaks against Mizzou and aTm remained intact. The portal is always a crapshoot but I see more of the same for next season. Like the bartender in High Plains Drifter said about the beer, “It ain’t much good but it’s all there is.”

Going 2-6 against power schools from neighboring states and 0-5 against rivals probably exacerbates fan frustration

this is a lot of it imo. When we went 6-6 under bert and should’ve been closer to 10-2, everyone was still pleased because lsu and ole miss were 2 of the 6 wins and everyone celebrated the 1 point loss to bama that year like it was a win. If we win only win 6 or 7 regular season games but we beat some border sec teams in the process I don’t think people would be near as pissed

I wasnt a geography major, but I think Tennessee borders Arkansas around the Memphis area.

and that was a big win! If he doesn’t win that game he’s fired after this season. But Tennessee also just doesn’t mean as much to most fans. I think most fans would tell you beating Texas is no.1 then depending on who you talk to, A&M, ole miss, lsu are 2,3,4 in some order, then mizzou, just because they’ve beat us so many years now, the. Tennessee since we don’t play them as much, then Oklahoma since we have hardly ever played them in football. I’d think that’s how most would rank our border rivals.

Ole Piss is number one to many fans for obvious reasons.

Projected to win 4 games at the beginning of the season, taking into consideration the talent index, portal losses, etc.

Goes on to beat TN, Miss State, Auburn, and some rent a wins... to get to 6 games.

Close losses, once again frustrates fans...

Proceeds to keep BP around another season with most coaches intact...

was not favored to win the bowl game because of portal losses, and nfl departures... and yet wins. Was TT-2.5 prior to the game... won by 10, beating the odds by 12.5 pts.

The players left for the bowl, evidently bought in and played with pride.

Proceeds to call our coach and team a failure after being handcuffed with a terrible NIL program, Terrible AD, eta..

I was expecting Sam to be fired earlier in the year, but honestly do not see much of a reason until the PTB at the UofA decide to do something vastly different with regards to the new wild west of college football. And they haven't! We are mediocre, have been mediocre, and will remain mediocre until a miracle happens with regards to Arkansas actually being proactive, with $$$ for the first time in????

A coach can't 'build' a program anymore, they simply have to try to retool every year through the portal, which is a crapshoot.
We might get lucky and catch lightning in a bottle once in a while, but by and large, how can we realistically expect to match up roster for roster with the traditionally 'top' (which now means 'with tons of money') teams year after year?
Of course we want to consistently want to be in the hunt for the SEC and National titles. But really, is that being realistic?
Not being negative, I'd like to see us average 10 wins a year - but I don't see that happening under the current state of NCAA football.

Basically I think Arkansas football is pretty much dead but it has been for some time. I don’t know how long it will take to revive it or whether it will be revived but I’m not seeing anything on the horizon. Sadly we will have to enjoy whatever successes we have in basketball and baseball. Haven’t really “looked forward” to an Arkansas football season in a very long time.

It won't, without a complete paradigm shift, and the Gennie is out of the bottle, so to speak.

Wealth wins, $$$$ speaks, and we simply do not have the fans, or support to make it happen under the current landscape.

Ya know, we had a blast at the game and following the team the past few days. But we had many conversations about how it used to be. Following a Dmac, Jones, Stoerner, etc through their ups and downs, development... Even players who weren't form here at all like Felix Jones, ...

Now we have to look up most of their names by numbers each season, 1 year rentals.

Sam is an average coach
We need a GM
Our next coach needs to be a young guy from the NFL. Recruiting no longer matters in college football. In our situation he needs to be an expert talent evaluator and schemer.

Get rid of the AD and replace with GM. People will say but muh other sports. Blah blah. Who gives a shite.

Far below average

Doesn’t matter where they are from.

The AD doesn’t do just football. Dumb take because of this whole federal title IX thing.

Dan Mullen and Glenn Schumann should be top of the list.

Dan Mullen is the best schemer.
Glenn Schumann is the Georgia DC and a great culture guy. Helped build Bama culture until he moved to Georgia.

Well it's better than a losing season. Glad we beat tech and Tennessee. Hopefully we spend the money to improve the lines and get competitive

Looks like Carmona was encouraging that dude to quit laying on top of his teammate. If he wanted to hurt the dude he could have.

The question is what was the tech player doing to our player instead of getting off of him.

Players are straight up getting paid and men are playing women's sports. Let's not act like there isn't a way around this.

If we're going to compete we need to start thinking like a pro team.

For the fifth year in a row Sam has met HY’s low standard of not being Chad morrris. Apathetic fanbase and boosters not willing to pony up NIL $$$ to keep up in the arms race. Will continue to be a lower tiered sec program for the foreseeable future
