Before selection day, Bama had no problem with 12 teams, well, because even gumps understand 2nd grade math for at least a few minutes sometimes.
But it was only after the selection day that they declared war on 12, and wanted to punish anyone and everyone else for their own gump failures.
"Move it back to four!", the proverbial sullen crybaby gump screamed to the sky all day and into next week.
Declaring war on math. That's the new Alabama paradigm.

I have said from day one that 12 is too many. Anything more than 3 and you are just trying to justify it too hard. That's why 4 was perfect to get a true champ. You get the 2-3 best teams and 1 other. The fact that the number 16 team, Clemson, made this playoff on only 1 well timed win over a less than mediocre smu team fully proves my point.
