The SEC needed a humbling. Saban & Kirby propped up the entire conference for too long.

Tennessee received the humbling on a personal level that we would've received had we made it to the playoff. On a conference level, I've been saying the coaching in the SEC as a whole is mid to very bad aside from Saban (now retired) and Kirby. Yes, the SEC has the best athletes (for now) but the coaching for the most part isn't bettering the athletes at all. The offenses in the SEC are flat-out terrible. They are so bad the defenses can't improve facing tomato cans on a weekly basis.

I’m not sure which would have caused the board to spazz out more.
Not making the playoff, or getting what the Vols got last night.

The Big 10 is running circles around the SEC in revenue which is translating to talent acquisition. “It just means more” doesn’t translate to the bottom line.

The great thing about the SEC is we have the money to lure coaches. The mid part is only a choice

Well that's Sankey's fault. No one told him to put all the SEC's media rights in the hands of Disney.

Exactly which conferences, in your mind, have better coaches than the SEC from top to bottom?

According to 247 the top 6 in the final recruiting rankings were:
Texas
Bama
UGA
OSU
Oregon
Auburn
Seems like the SEC is doing fine in talent acquisition.

They would've embarrassed the conference regardless.

Saban is gone... go humble yourself

Before Bama and Ole Miss oofed the second last week of the season, everyone considered Tennessee to be the 5th best team in conference, we saw what happened when they went to Athens, the experience in Oxford and Tuscaloosa would’ve been similar, really shouldn’t been too surprising last night.

I agree with this. Tennessee was maybe 5th or 6th best team in the SEC.

It’s not like Ryan Day is better than every coach in the SEC (other than Kirby, according to you). Ohio State fans wanted him fired a few weeks ago. He hasn’t beaten Michigan in over 4 years. Ohio State, according to most, will dominate the NFL draft this year, yet they can’t even make the Big Ten Championship. I can’t think of a coach in the Big Ten, that’s head and shoulders better than most of the SEC coaches. Anyone who’s watched Tennessee all year, had to know Nico isn’t a very good passer. He’s one dimensional, and that was the biggest difference in the game.

12 of top 21 are SEC -
7 of top 21 are BT
2 of the top 21 are ACC
2024 will be reported in early 2025 - but the most recent revenue rankings reflect the SEC at least on par with the BT -
the over-reaction to the forever football factory of Oh.State in a home game beating Tennessee last night equating to Illinois Iowa Wisconsin Indiana Michigan State Minnesota's leaving the SEC as a whole in the dust with NIL or revenues - seems like a reach -

I think Sherrone Moore is a better coach than Billy Napier. From the start of the season to now Sherrone has proved more to me than Napier has proved. Could Napier beat Ohio State with a tomato can QB? No!
Ryan Day is at least on par with Sark.
I think Kirk Ferentz is a better coach than BK.
I think James Franklin is a better coach than Heupel.
And, Lanning might be better than all coaches in the B10 and the SEC save for Kirby.

Mississippi State is barely in the top 50 for athletic revenue. I don’t see how they get included if there is another realignment
