Last season, our secondary was ranked 121st in the nation. We switch conferences, but keep the same coaches and personnel, now we’re ranked 1st in the nation. I thought that was suspicious. Watching the game yesterday afternoon made me realize we haven’t played a competent offense or QB all season long. That’s so ridiculous, we used to line up across the best offenses in the country every fricking week. Y’all had it so good over here with your gaudy defensive stats. It don’t make a shite.

QB play was down across the country this year. First time in a while that there wasn't one, if not multiple QBs with just gaudy numbers.

You're right the big 12 is obviously the premier conference in the nation.

You played a shite schedule. Literally the entire bottom half of the SEC which included Florida’s 3rd string qb.

You got beat by Georgia twice (with no help from Beck).

This has all been well-documented and discussed on this board.

Good to see Texas fans finally agreeing their schedule was a joke

It could be that defenses are catching up to the passing offenses. We may see some shift back to the running game in the coming years. I haven’t looked closely at the college stats but the NFL stats are leaning that way.

Defensive rosters have changed in the last 10-15 years, especially at linebacker and safety. Speed and coverage ability has replaced the heavy hitters that defined SEC defenses until the early-mid 2010s.

Imagine what would happen if Derrick Henry was running behind a good line against the linebackers today. I for one would like to see a return of the big back.

Really good points - definitely reapply to Big12.

Please.

We all know that conference is a shell of what it was. It used to be the most innovative offensive conference in football. Naturally, it started to become the most innovative defensive conference prior to Texas & OUs departure. The coaching staffs were consistently the best top to bottom in the country. I’ll always have respect for what The Big12 was, even if it was mostly detrimental to Texas.

Nice to see you acknowledge that the "Gauntlet of an SEC schedule" was the biggest joke.

Texas played the schedule you gave us, just like everybody else.

When Texas joined the SEC, we were in the midst of the worst period in over 120 years of Texas football. The SEC thought the last 10 years of Texas football was who we were, and gave us a schedule that reflected that, playing our new "peers" and our old rivals, and Georgia.

Texas was the only SEC team that didn't gag it up to to our so called peer group.

SEC was always top heavy, and protected its teams by not making them play each other.

SEC has superior athletes, no doubt about it.

But that is different than superior teams.

There were teams this year with less than 100 passing yards in a game.

That was the biggest joke.

No doubt, the SEC wanted to ease you in by playing a relatively weak schedule.

Yeah just national titles. Your conference had 2 this century and the last one came 20 years ago.

Meanwhile, Florida who hasn’t been relevant in 15 seasons has twice the amount of titles Texas has since their last one but yes tell me more about QBR and stats dork

You have 1 national title in the last 55 years. The last 10 years is more similar to most decades in Texas football in terms of national titles

What specific secondary stats make them #1? INTs, yards, PBUs? Maybe you played some teams this year that don’t throw it 60 times a game. Maybe the personnel are just more experienced this year.

Just by circumstance the Whorns wound up with one of the weakest SEC schedules on the top conf contenders. Some of your opponents should have been better but werent. The only team you played in the season that were ranked at end of the season was UGA and you lost to them twice. The next best was aTm and you won by 10 on the road. Clemson was a decent win too.

A couple of the teams on your schedule a few yrs ago would have given you a run for your money but not this one.

I will laugh my arse off if UTx and UGA meet in the finals for the 3rd time this yr.

Son, you've played one team ranked in the top 15. You played them twice. You lost both times.

Just look at the SEC quarterbacks they beat:

Michael Van Buren, backup freshman

Michael Hawkins Jr, backup freshman

Diego Pavia

Aiden Warner, backup freshman

Taylen Green

Cutter Boley, backup freshman

Marcel Reed, backup freshman

TBH, the SEC hasn’t had the same skills players this season. Very few WRs and RBs that make you go “wtf did he just do,,,wow”. It’s not just a QB problem.
