And to Houston. What’s up with this? Thought Florida’s defense was pretty good down the stretch this year.

I don't think Armstrong was in good standing early this year. Probably got promoted too far

I think he was the DC in 2023, and co-DC in 2024 IIRC.

Napier is a nice guy. He brought in Ron Roberts to "coach the coaches" on defense after the disaster of 2023. But in the interviews I've listened to, players have been saying Roberts was the defensive play caller.

The only thing I'm unsure about is when the change happened. Was it the start of the season, or did it change after that 2-2 start? Because the defense changed for the better almost overnight following the bye week. They didn't just improve in play, the style changed with a lot more two high safeties and fewer rushers.

Ron Roberts is a beast.
He certainly has Ole Miss number.
Delta state has produced some great defensive coaches.

Yep. Roberts was in charge. Armstrong was pretty much demoted.

it was and Armstrong decided to upgrade to a program with an admin that’s more serious about winning in football

Armstrong was the cheerleader on the sidelines. Roberts was calling the shots. No big loss imo.

I can't understand why any team would want Armstrong.

Roberts will be gone as well in the coming weeks.

I think Roberts is a decent coach, but he can sometimes be a liability on a coaching staff. The decision to rush 2 in the Iron bowl was one of the most catastrophically bad play calls of all time. He also was known to be extremely difficult to get along with; he and Wesley McGriff got into a physical fight that made McGriff voluntarily move to an off the field role mid season.
