Worst Athletic Program in the SEC?

Who is currently the worst athletic program in the SEC? This is about the sports that matter; football, then men’s basketball and in distant third place baseball. Rowing or equestrian or track or tennis and all of those intramural sports do not matter to the vast majority of fans. It is all about football and basketball for most college fans, though baseball is also big in the SEC. So based on those three sports, what program is the worst at the moment based on calendar year 2024 results? I have not looked it up so I welcome the feedback.
But it has to be Auburn doesn’t it?
Football: 5-7, not bowl eligible
Basketball: NCAA tourney 1st round loss to Yale
Baseball: worst record in the SEC
Who else is even in the running? Maybe Mississippi State? Kentucky?

Two absolute pieces of shite that run their football and basketball programs who both had show clause's before they hired them.
Add that

Missouri.
No National Championships IN ANY SPORT since 1965. Only 2 all time.

I'd go with Mississippi State, but what do I know.

We have one of the best basketball coaches in the entire country, football is rebuilding, and baseball has been to 2 of the last 5 CWS with current coach although certainly had a rough year.
Basketball won the SEC tourney and 27 games.

State won a CWS title recently.

Do you post anything that isn't whining about Auburn, Ahab?

Mississippi State was abysmal at football this year. But they did make the NCAA tourney in both basketball and baseball. It would be close and probably depend on how you weight it.

They won a baseball natty in 2021 and they are pretty decent in basketball. They do suck at football though

Missouri has no National Championships in any sport since 1965??
Wow. That is pitiful.

Lulz, just won the SEC in volleyball…one of 2 programs in the nation to be undefeated in woman’s and men’s basketball, college World Series, men’s tennis top 6, gymnastics top 10 in nation. Etc.

According to LSU fans I do nothing but post about LSU.
I must be doing it right.
Here is the thing though Aubie, I couldn’t have started this thread if Auburn wasn’t arguably the worst athletic program in the league. I have an idea to prevent future threads like this. Don’t suck so hard. Make a bowl game. Don’t lose to Yale. Don’t finish dead last in baseball. That would be a start.

Volleyball? Women’s basketball? Gymnastics?
How about football? How about your storied men’s basketball program being bounced in the first round by 14 seed Oakland? You did make the college world series, so you probably aren’t in the running for worst.
So it is between State and Auburn. If not for Missouri winning the Cotton Bowl over Ohio State they would be in the running too.

Let’s see that #1 NET ranking is justified with a Final 4 trip this year. I’m guess not, Cockgobbler.

For football, basketball, baseball:
Missouri
Decent but not a national contender in football
Conference worst in the other two.
Everyone else has at least one program equivalent or better than Missouri football but is not as bad as Missouri in the other two.

So the SEC Tournament Championship disqualifies for
discussion amongst SEC peers?
How pretzeled of an argument can you go!

Looking at 2024 by sport, then force rank them I would say:
Basketball
Missouri completed the season without a single conference win (0-18), near them would be Vandy (4-14) and Arkansas (6-12)
Baseball
2 teams did not qualify for the SEC tournament: Missouri (9-21) and Auburn (8-22)
Football
Mississippi State went 0-8 and Kentucky went 1-7 to be the bottom of the barrel in Football. followed by Oklahoma and Auburn at 2-6.
So...taking our bottom teams in each sport...let's see how they finished in each sport overall:
Team - Basketball Finish / Baseball Finish / Football Finish
Missouri - 14th (0-18) / 13th (9-21) / 8th (5-3)
Vandy - 13th (4-14) / 8th (13-17) / 11th (t) (3-5)
Arkansas - 12th (6-12) / 2nd (20-10) / 11th (t) (3-5)
Auburn - 4th (13-5) Tourney Champ / 14th (8-22) / 14th (2-6)
*Oklahoma - 9th (8-10) / 1st (23-7) / 13th (2-6)
Kentucky - 2nd (13-5) / 3rd (22-8) / 15th (1-7)
Average Big 3 Finish:
Missouri - 11.66
Vandy - 10.66
Auburn - 10.66
Arkansas - 8.33
*Oklahoma - 7.66
Kentucky - 6.66
All things being equal, Missouri would currently be the worst program in the SEC. That would change if you weighted Football more than basketball & baseball.
*Oklahoma Big-12 placement for baseball and basketball used.
