The National Championship should not be played on a weekday. The Lone Star Showdown should be played on Thanksgiving. If not for the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, those greedy fricks would've taken over Saturdays as well...

The NC couldn’t compete against a regular season NFL game.
NFL games take something like 80% of the top 100 rated shows.
We CFB fans live in a bubble. Most of the country doesn’t care that much.

I’m not disputing this but it always blows my mind when I hear this.

I don’t mind watching NFL but I don’t get excited about it. It starting to look a lot different with all the rules changing.

There are many CFB stadiums that are larger capacity than most/all NFL stadiums. The ticket prices seem to be about the same.

Just weird that they attract so many eyeballs.

I’ve wondered why so many people fill the stadiums of pro football games, but they do. Plus many watch the games plus many watch the games when their team sucks.

College fans tend to bail out in those circumstances. It’s about money and eyes on the tv.

Couldn't believe this when I found out. Buddies from the East and West Coast that were die hard NFL fans but couldn't care less about CFB. Almost how a MLB fan wouldn't care about the minors. Guess it's cultural.

How many games were played against a much less talented team against a much more talented team? It happened way too many times. In the NFL there are very few less talented teams. Rules are more fair in the NFL than in college football. For example any team can have a 3 million a year quarterback which only the top teams would do. That is where you see a huge disadvantage against college teams that have a lesser NIL budget. If all college football programs were just like the NFL then the games would be even more competitive than it is now. Some low NIL teams MSU, Arkansas, Vandy, many Big 12 teams, more than half of ACC teams, some Big 10 teams.

What the frick are you going to do about it?

Slive and Sankey are first rate turds for expanding SEC past 12 teams.

Roy Kramer is a different conversation entirely.

If you know you know.

You vagabond shitbags can rot in hell, to be crystal fricking clear.

It’s definitely cultural. Some states are more for the Pros

Northeasterners and west coast don’t have any CF teams to align with. It’s all about the NFL. CFB is mostly a southern/midwest. Most of the population is in the NE and west coast.

Yup, I lived in NY State (the state not the fricking city) when I was 6 - 9 years old. Football was all NFL. I was a Giants fan. Nobody up there gave a shite about college football. Why? Because the choices were Syracuse, BC or Army which all were crap. Theres a huge population up there and alot of eyes watching NFL games.

The NFL didn’t change anything. ESPN made that decision.

I don't watch the NFL. Anyone who does probably wears another man's jersey.

For the downvoters that think CFB can compete with the NFL

LINK

2023:
NFL 93 of top 100 watched shows
Top 20
48 of top 50
Only 3 CFB games in top 100 (58, 71, 74)

Its pretty amazing really.

Not including teams that share with nfl like usf Miami Pitt unlv etc. only 30 college teams boast a stadium capacity larger than soldier field. Virginia’s Scott stadium is the smallest college stadium that seats more than the nfls smallest stadium

CFB is big viewership it’s just more regional and there are over 130 teams people follow. NFL fans follow teams from all over whether they live in the same state/region or not. They also watch every market broadcast in their area plus SNF and MNF. Also most people didn’t go to college so don’t understand the draw
