He flat-out told Milroe he was a shite QB and wanted him moved to a different position to no avail.

quote:

Milroe was asked at a press conference if there was a moment someone wanted him to play a different position. He revealed that O'Brien, who spent the previous two seasons as the Crimson Tide's offensive coordinator, was among his doubters.

"All my life, even when I was in college," Milroe answered. "Shoot, my own offensive coordinator, Bill O'Brien, told me I shouldn't play quarterback.

This response prompted several follow-up questions related to O'Brien's lack of belief in him as a quarterback. When asked about his reaction to O'Brien's comments, Milroe replied, "How would you feel if I told you you sucked?"

"He told me a bunch of positions I could've switched to, but look where I'm at right now," Milroe said. "Who gets the last laugh?"

No, because he was a terrible OC.

However, he was right on about Milroe.

That press conference before the Rose Bowl last year was easily one of most cringe worthy moments in Alabama history. As much as I don’t care for BOB he was absolutely spot on about Milroe.

I mean... Boob still managed to struggle with Bryce Young, Jameson and Jahmyr Gibbs

I was never of the opinion that he was wrong about Milroe, however.

And we're all crying. BOB is a smart guy & a very good football coach. He knew.

Yeah, similarly I was not a fan of BoB's scheme. Having said that, it says a lot to me that Milroe frames BoB's suggestions as bullying as opposed to actual suggestions. "Who gets the last laugh?" Well, you're 6'3, lightning fast, and not a very good passer. Nobody's laughing, everyone's tired of this.

If you were a good QB they would want you to play QB, but you never were so that is why people told you to switch positions.

Radio thought people were going against him for reasons other than his poor play, when in reality it doesn't matter how good of a person you are if you can play ball.

Joe Mixon is a PoS but nobody can say he isn't a really good RB

Milroe isn't a PoS (most likely idk who cares) but nobody can say he is a really good QB

We don't owe him an apology, but he was absolutely correct about Milroe

I would have demanded a lot of guaranteed money up front before signing the contract.

No. frick that guy. Milroe is not a good QB, but he might be less bad if chin divot had actually cared to develop any of the QBs on the roster. I think he even did a disservice to Bryce by essentially forcing him to improvise on damn near every play, which fricked up his development in terms of playing within an actual offensive system.

On some level we probably do. He was right. I still wonder if he was handicapped by Saban’s insistence that any OC would use the system already in place. It was a bad hire for sure and he didn’t work out here, but he was 100% correct about Milroe.

And Rees took that QB to within 1 game of playing for a NC the next year. BOB was lazy. Didn't develop anyone and obviously didn't recruit anyone else after Bryce.

Just because he was right about one thing one time doesn't change the fact that he's an arrogant a-hole who never wanted to be here and vicariously destroyed our OL through his boy Marrone. Rees is probably the one owed a bit of an apology because he inherited the joke of a QB room BooB left him with and did everything he could to find some way of making it work. On some level I can even commend Sheridan for doing the same. I don't think either of them is a particularly gifted playcaller, but neither is responsible for inheriting bad QBs they had no role in developing.
