Wouldn’t a 3 loss SEC team have to make the playoff…

And I don’t mean a CCG loser either.
Assume ND is in the playoff (they might be in even if they lose to USC at this rate). Boise, Big 12 rep (how would they get more than the champion at this point?). ACC rep (here’s where it could be key). Assume Indiana is safe so the B1G gets their four teams in - this allows for four SEC teams (we’ll go back to the ACC). Let’s assume Texas, Georgia and Tennessee are in. Unless A&M wins out against Texas AND the CCG they are probably out. At this point you still have a playoff spot open.
To me the big question becomes does a 2 loss non ACC champ get a nod or does a 3 loss SEC team? Particularly Bama or Ole Miss? It’s easy to say they are undeserving but the simple math dictates that you have to have 12 teams.
I see no way the Big 12 or B1G would have more than 1 and 4 teams respectively. It seems like if there’s not a 3 loss SEC team in the field it would have to mean that a 2+ non ACC champ is. I guess I’m not thinking about Tulane?

I suspect so. That's why I think if Bama beats Auburn, they are in.

Miami at 1 regular season loss and the 2nd loss in the ACCCG would go over any 3 loss regular season SEC team. Same with Indiana at 11-1.

The committee will probably trip over themselves to get Bama in there, just because of TV ratings.

If Miami and SMU play in the ACC title game with one loss each, I don’t know how the loser doesn’t make it.

I bet Dabo will have an epic rant if they beat SC and are behind a 3 loss Bama after that.

If Texas A&M beats Texas, then Georgia in SECCG they’re in with 3 losses. But they would block all other 3 loss teams in the conference. I think.

Because Nick Saban will be all over your TV every day crying about a 3 loss Alabama getting left out in favor of a 2 loss SMU team is stupid
He'd be right of course, but still - bama gets in because of TV nothing else

I think Clemson might take the SEC’s 4th spot as long as they beat SC. If they let a 3 loss team in, it should be SC if they beat Clemson.

That would make TX or TN have to sweat things out a little.

Don't see any way the politics let's Clemson go over a 1 loss regular season Miami though that loses the ACCCG.

Absolutely. Mizzou has earned the right to be there.

I think the ACC get 3. Miami, Clemson and SMU. SMU will play Miami in the ACC championship.
