Who has the easiest schedule Texas or A&M?

Yesterday I posted urging caution about jumping on the Aggy bandwagon because of their weak SOS. Conversely I looked at the Texas SOS and the way things stand today they haven't played one opponent who is currently ranked and won't until their last game vs. A&M. IMHO Vandy should still be ranked but they aren't. As weak as A&Ms schedule it, Texas was given a cake walk in their initial season in the SEC.

A&M has or will face #6, #8, #16, & #25 in the current poll.

Your post was reasonable. Arkansas in retrospect was probably our #2 win. LSU is #1. South Carolina is going to be tough... at night, on the road. Texas is ranked high and I get it.
I really like the way we match up vs Texas. I liked the match up with Texas before the LSU game.

South Carolina is not ranked?
Well they will be after the Aggies go down

Texas ended up with the easier schedule because Michigan and Oklahoma are so down.

True. A team, any team, really has no say in their SOS outside of the OOC opponents they schedule and then sometimes it's still a crap shoot.

On the road in Columbia is going to be a damn dog fight. Not sure how that one ends up.

We’ll have an all Texas SEC CG. It has been written by Sankey.
Georgia loses to Tennessee or Ole Miss and A&M goes down to Texas. Rematch in Atlanta.
Since the lack of divisions the SEC will largely come down to scheduling from here forward.

About like Georgia’s schedule for the past 5 years.

We lost to arguably the best team in the country.
Aggy lost to Notre Dame and squeaked by Bowling Green.

Which is why you need a ninth game, help break up the log jam a bit.

You are the best loss when you don't have any good wins.

And UTex is currently ranked higher than A&M in the polls, so ….
Not sure there’s really any injustice here.

The Bowling Green gave wasn’t really that close. It wasn’t a pretty win, the Aggies left a ton of points on the board setting for field goals. They never trailed. Yet they still had a touchdown lead until the last 38 seconds. The polls are pretty fair though. Texas only has one loss to a top five team…Aggies have only a loss to ND.

According to this site, updated through week 9, SOS
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
17) Texas
Preseason Projected Win-Loss Record: 10.2-1.8
Preseason Strength of Schedule Rank: 21
Week 10 Projected Win-Loss Record: 10.0-2.0
Remaining Strength of Schedule Rank: 17
51) Texas A&M
Preseason Projected Win-Loss Record: 6.5-5.5
Preseason Strength of Schedule Rank: 14
Week 10 Projected Win-Loss Record: 9.6-2.4
Remaining Strength of Schedule Rank: 51
Some info on how they get to these rankings.
Using a bevy of metrics such as returning production, roster projections, coaching staff, incoming talent, home-field advantage, and other factors, the CFN SOS analyzes which teams have the most difficult and easiest schedules this season.
CFN’s strength of schedule metric included each team’s transfer portal classes, valued quarterbacks returning to their school, and continuation among the coaching staffs into the ranking. And after the first nine weeks of action, we have input the success rates from each team so far this year to help round out the numbers and project the rest of the way through.
These factors all awarded schedule difficulty more heavily based on merit and projection, as opposed to looking back at results from last season, though those results were factored in moderately.
Go ahead and shoot me if that floats your boat, I just googled it to see what would pop up, Eh. LINK to 2024 College Football Network SOS page

your strength (dl) matches up well with our biggest weakness (ol + a frightened qb). I'd say you have a better than 50% chance to beat us at home.

We will know at the end of the season.
