Would Heupel leave Tennessee for Oklahoma?

Legit question. I know he's an OU grad, but isn't there some bad blood there? Don't know. Just seem to recall something. My memory isn't as good as it used to be.

I thought the bad blood was with Stoops, not OU.

If Stoops signed off on it, and OU offered.. I do believe he would leave for OU. He was pretty emotional when they played there earlier in the year. OU clearly means a lot to him.
If I were in his shoes, the answer would be 100% yes. I'd even take a salary cut to go coach for Texas.

If so, Kirby Smart would snatch up Venables in a heartbeat (or at least try to). Somebody's going to get Schumann away from us so we need to be ready.

OU and Stoops scapegoated the shite out of Josh and ran him off. He has found his new home. He has the full support of the AD and the President and has access to as many resources as anyone in the country. It is highly doubtful that he would leave UT anytime soon.

Either way Heupel going to get paid more

I think he would leave

I think its the only job he would maybe leave Tennessee for unless he got an NFL offer, which I don't really see happening.
He seems happy here and has been successful so far. The school and boosters give him what he wants. If he leaves it won't be because of anything about Tennessee. If it happens it happens and I can't really blame someone when its his home.

Maybe. Maybe not. He's probably the only one who truly knows if he would leave or not.. He hasn't been at Tennessee long enough or won anything of significance to cement his feet into the ground.. but he won a NC at OU and that's going to play a big role. We love what we love..

Agreed. It's OU or TN if he stays in CFB.

Extremely naive.

there's no guarantee a guy that's been a HC at a blue blood would have any interest in going back down to just being a coordinator

None of these morons know what they're talking about.
Bob Stoops scapegoated Josh, not OU. Josh's offense was shite when he was here no doubt, but he wasn't the only one that should've been fired. Bob's brother and his buddies on the defensive staff should've been shown the door along with him. That is Josh's primary rub, and he's right.

Not sure he would turn down an opportunity at OU but this seems to me to be one of those coaching situations where the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.

It was Stoops. He protected his brother Mike.

I'm wondering if Venables would work under Heupel if Banks takes the ECU job.

Every fan says this about their coach.

Stoops kind of publicly put it out there that Huepal was the problem. Huepal was a golden boy at OU so Stoops needed to tear him down first before firing him. That's what made it so personal. Heupals image was so bad after OU that he ended up at Utah State.
