I didn’t know where to put this, but just saw some preseason rankings for the men’s basketball team. KenPom has us at #3 and the AP poll has us at #11, which is a joke. Andy Katz has us at #15, which is beyond parody. I’ve said this so many times: anybody that has Auburn outside of the top 10 knows nothing about basketball. There aren’t 10 teams with better rosters in the country than Auburn’s.

It’s a bit too early to get offended about our ranking. Who effing cares at this point?

More worried about Bruce being too distracted by current events than where the meaningless AP poll, or some pundits have us.

We have plenty of tough opponents to prove ourselves against and don’t even have to wait till SEC play to have an idea what this team might be capable of.

It’s the lack of respect that is the problem as well as 99% of these voters just look at name of the school for the most part and rank them in the top 10. Auburn arguably has one of if not the best player in the country and we’re ranked outside of the top 10? That alone disqualifies you from voting.

We do. We also have a schedule that if we take care of business will either garner us that respect OR prepare us better for March. Probably both.

This schedule ain’t for wimps. We need to be prepared to NOT jump to too many negative conclusions if we drop a few games early.

Right now, I’m going to Tip Off and going to see them against Purdue.

My wife passed away in August and I will not sit here alone and sulk.

We lost to Yale in our last game, no problem with them saying you gotta earn it

Ah yes, because humans are unable to both care about things in the world AND do their job

The early schedule has some tough opponents that are highly ranked. Good way to test this team's mettle and shape its metal.

Still waiting on my Cameron tickets. I expect to be the grey bearded redneck behind the pbp announcers with an AU shirt on. Lol.

Just a couple of seasons back we had not one but two 1st round picks on defense and offense in Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith. It didn’t matter in the end. We always get penalized for stuff like that more so than the other “blue bloods”. It’s going to keep happening until we take it to the next level - consistent S16, E8, F4s etc.

There is no poll that means less than a college basketball poll. Auburn is going to be good, but so are a lot of other teams. Should be fun to watch.

Today when talking about the move to have Denver play more PG, equated it to being easier to get the QB the ball in football. Really sounds like Denver made some improvements this offseason.

I know I’m not unique in this opinion, but I do think a lot of how this next season goes is going to hinge on Denver Jones. We saw flashes down the stretch last year that showed he had the ability to take our guard play to the next level. If he can show up this year improved, and able to bring that game in and game out, we might really have something cooking this year.

Late season Denver Jones was exactly what we needed. Opponents clogged the paint and we finally had someone who could hit the outside shot with some consistency.

I’ll wait to see how it plays out, but would much rather Denver be off the ball for catch and shoot threes and cuts to the bucket.
