Why were Ole Miss fans so confident they'd beat LSU in Baton Rouge?

I know their offense and defense were very highly ranked but they had played a bunch of nobodies, even Wake Forest is basically a G5 team this year.
They lost to Kentucky at home and South Carolina is bipolar.
Yet, they seemed supremely confident in this team. They've been talking shite for weeks now, and it seems that many have somehow disappeared.
Conversely, I don't think LSU is some great team this year. They have plenty of flaws.

A weird talking point was also that their defense was elite or something.

Because they beat up on a bunch of nobodies at the beginning of the season and let those already inflated egos balloon out of control.
The only decent team they played beat them, AT THEIR HOUSE.

We were confident because this LSU team isn’t that good, and talent wise this is among our best teams
That didn’t change. LSU wasn’t very good, and was statistically beaten by OM for the majority of the game. OM beat themselves flat out
I’m not going to complain about it, it is what it is and we are soft bitches who choke. But our pregame shite talking was founded on LSU not being that good, and nothing about that was proven wrong
