We were probably expecting too much from a new coach TBH

The first year at any program is hard. The first year as an SEC coach has gotta be extra hard.

Even though this team is packed with talent, none of these players really committed to Deboer.

Not that that excuses losses to Vandy or anything like that, but expecting a completely smooth transition from Saban in the first year was probably gonna be a tall task.

We will probably drop another game or two this year, maybe we sneak into the playoffs, maybe we don't, etc.

It sucks but some element of rebuilding was inevitable, even if it's just team chemistry and coaching staff.

Not too hard to expect running the ball and stopping the run

We’re losing to Vanderbilt and dicking around with South Carolina. Is that what we should be expecting?

If you look at Washington’s game results from last year, they had several close games that shouldn’t have been close. I think that’s what we’re going to have to deal with. That doesn’t excuse how bad we’ve played at times.

May want to read that part again. We are not playing well at all and that's on Deboer. But expecting a well oiled wrecking machine was also not realistic either.

Yup. Washington has had 14 games the last 2 years that were won by 10 points or less. They basically play up/down to the level of competition. Does not matter if it's a 3 win team or a 11 win team, he was probably coaching them to a single digit win

People ave pointed that out and you are right. Washington was able to get up for and win the big games but consistently screwed around with weak opponents and barely got by them.

Whatever Deboer is doing to cause that, obv stop that shite.

One thing I'm certain of... If we were going to take a big step back, and dick around with bottom dwelling teams I would have much preferred to do that with Lane Kiffin. At least he's funny, and keeps things interesting. I like Kiffin chances of making the playoffs with Bama talent.

Kiffin is a tough coach that keeps it real while still being able to relate to some of these new era thin skinned types IMO

Donald Kiffin . Kiffin and dick in the same sentence is about right. Lane doesn't work cause he thinks with something other than his football mind too often. I've never heard Kiffin being a tough coach but I guess he could be.

I’d expect coaches to discover the caliber of tactical prep in the SEC is different than most leagues. I would not expect a staff to struggle at basic game management stuff and consistently struggle with players who spend too much time doing extracurriculars.

Yeah, well that Lane Kiffin offense scored....27 points against this USCe team (same as Bama). Yeah, Ole Miss held USCe to 3 points, but that was Golding's fricking defense.

Could have been 28, but we went for two at one point. I would add that LSU gave up 33 to SC, and but for the refs should have lost that game.

It’s not the score, it’s the product on the field. It’s ugly play even in wins. The problem is when you play ugly against lesser competition the TN and LsUs of the world kick your butt.

Beating Vanderbilt by double digits and not getting pushed to the wall by the cocks is not expecting too much.

These are two gut pile football teams and Alabama could barely compete with one and got beat up and down the field by the other. This shite has nothing to do with rebuilding or dropping off.

Expecting the guy not to lose to Vandy isn’t expecting too much.

Not me. I did, and still do, have no expectations for this season.

He’s getting paid $10M a year and Wommack is making $1.5M. If we lost to Georgia by 5 he might get some sympathy from me, but it was Vandy and we barely escaped SC at home. This team looks poorly coached and unprepared. It’s unacceptable.
