Posted this on the rant, I know many don't venture over there for good reason so Im reposting here.

*All numbers are adjusted for opponent and garbage time stats are removed*

Overall FEI:
1 Ohio St 4-0
2 Georgia 3-1
3 Alabama 4-0
4 Oregon 4-0
5 Texas 5-0
6 Tenn 4-0
7 Ole Miss 4-1
8 Penn St 4-0
9 Clemson 3-1
10 LSU 4-1

17. OU
19. Kentucky
23. Missouri
26. Texas A&M
29. South Carolina
42. Auburn
49. UF
82. Vandy
86. Miss State

FEI Offense:
1. LSU
4. UGA
5. Texas
6. Ole Miss
7. Bama
18. Tennessee

FEI Defense:
1. Bama
2. UGA
5. Tennessee
7. Texas
11. OU
14. UK
19. Ole Miss
50. LSU

Takeaways:
-Im honestly shocked Bama's offense isn't higher after hanging 41 on UGA (FEI D #2). I suspect the USF debacle is crushing our ratings because they're FEI Def #114 right now, but its not really reflective of the offense with the tackles healthy
-The computers still think the SEC is ridiculous this year with 6 top 10 teams
-Computers still love UGA despite the loss. And while they're elite defensively they seem vastly underrated as an offense because they are extremely efficient when they arent turning the ball over. I think the offensive explosion in the 2H vs Bama (#1 FEI D) is a major factor along with the Clemson blowout in this.
-I had to double check the Tennessee numbers because I would've guessed they would be top five offense and top 20 defensively, but its the opposite. If their offense ends up top 5 they could easily win it all this year.
-LSU is quietly ultra elite offensively this year with the #1 overall offense again. Say what you want about Brian Kelly, but even losing the Heisman winner and both those game changing NFL WR's they are right back at the top of the list offensively. Dude can scheme and Nuss is elite. Id watch out for them with a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way outside of Bama which is in Baton Rouge
-Defensive coordinators must be losing their minds in the conference trying to deal with 5 top 10 offenses and you have what appears to be an underrated TN offense sitting back at 18.
-Computers arent buying Missouri at all

Nussmeier is not elite. That word has a meaning and Nussmeier does not fit it.

FEI Offense:
1. LSU

Makes me question the validity of this metric

They lost to the only ranked team they've played and should have lost to South Carolina except for a generous helping of refball. They're padding their offensive stats agiainst the little sisters of the poor. I figure they'll drop one of Ole Miss, A&M, and Oklahoma and then lose to us and finish 9-3. Typical Brian Kelly season.

Also genuinely struggled with a really bad UCLA team for 3 quarters at home. Their defense is as terrible as last year in every way just based on the eye test.

Yep. Especially now that Harold Perkins is out for the season.

the fact that tosu gets so much love from everyone for playing the schedule they've played, is kind of alarming.

4th in passing yards
69% passer
3rd in touchdowns

#1 FEI Offense
Lost two NFL WR1 from last year

If thats not elite its right in the neighborhood.

FEI is adjusted for strength of opponent so they are being benchmarked against how they performed given who they played, not just the overall numbers.

But I agree, their season starts next week:
Ole Miss
@ A&M
Bama
OU

As far as SEC schedules go, getting Ole Miss and Bama at home and not playing any of the top 10 teams on the road is about as smooth as you can hope for unless you're Texas and only have OU, UGA and @A&M between you and Atlanta.

Yep. Especially now that Harold Perkins is out for the season.

Unpopular opinion: whether due to him being misused or him being a player without a clear position, their defense isn't going to be that much worse without him.

He's too light to play in the middle where they had him early and he's not great at setting the edge against the run when they line him up outside. Its not that he's not an ultra elite athlete, its that if you know his weaknesses he can be schemed not just out of the play, but against elite OL's he's actually a liability against the run.

I think he'd be a star at UGA or Bama as a situational pass rusher, but he's just not a 3 down LB IMO.

The issue for LSU is their DL is mediocre and their secondary is getting torched again. CFN has them as the 88th best team in relative performance against the pass and they're 108th in YPA (relative to opponent). Perkins might've helped protect that bad secondary on 3rd and Long, but at times he was contributing to keeping offenses on schedule.

Teams with elite QBs are going to light them up.

6 of his 15 TDs were against Nichols State, a game in which he attempted 37 passes.

He's a volume guy. He's got the most attempts of anyone in the country. He's a fine player, but nowhere near elite. Using "elite" to describe Garrett Nussmeier is watering down that word.

Perkins was a really good pass rusher. He did make some plays last year against us. Had a sack on the opening possession. Perhaps he was being misused some. But he is still a disruptive player at times.

Can we count the majority of last week's second half as "garbage time "?
Somewhat serious question

70% completion rate on an AY/A of 9.00 isn't a "fine player" paired with that volume. He's statistically toe for toe with Sanders who's at the very least a top 3 rounds draft prospect.

He's having a very efficient year so far and looks relatively polished. The real issue with that LSU team is the nonexistent defense

If that's the case then this FEI crap is as worthless as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest

F+ is more accurate imo
Combines FEI with SP+
