This is actually pretty surprising. I know PSU always struggled with the polls, especially before joining the Big Ten, but Miami at 8 is pretty incredible considering they were only good for about 9 years

So we’re good unless Ohio State is #1 every week for 3 consecutive seasons.

I like it.

Seriously though, 9 weeks total for Auburn. I would have thought they’d be higher than that

this is surprising to me. For a blue blood program that is supposedly one of the 6 or 7 best in the history of the sport, you'd think they'd have sat atop the polls more frequently than this.

and ditto for them

Make that about 20 years they were good (1983-2003) and won 5 national titles during that time span (1983, '87, '89, '91, 2001....finished #2 four times in 1986, '88, 2000, '02).

See Oklahoma. When they were good, they were a juggernaut. Texas has won a lot of games, but Texas always seems to lose a game or two they shouldn't lose.

See Ohio State.

We Georgia fans know exactly what you're talking about. Seems UGA and Texas dooooo have something in common when it comes to football.

Michigan had fewer AP titles than UF until January even though it started in 1936.

Arguably our best team of all-time was in 2005 when we were #2 the entire season because Southern Cal had cheated their way to the 2 previous national titles. That is why stats like this are very misleading.

Our 2 natties were legit -- y'all were darn lucky to have upset us in the Rose Bowl. Texas was more lucky than a bunch of unicorns farting rainbows.

I don't think it matters as long as at the end of the season you're 1. And you guys have been there enough to be considered a blue blood. It is an indicator of how good your program has been over a period of time but just one of many indicators.

I'm an LSU fan, and never got the sense that it was that common.

I knew we spent the end of 1958 and most of 1959 at #1. But, then we weren't ranked #1 again until 2007, when we lost it twice. In neither 2011 or 2019 were we #1 until the middle of the season.

Funny how perception plays tricks with you.
