A&M won’t fall for the Notre Dame trap

Texas A&M opens the season at home this week against a top 10 Notre Dame team. Similarly, our friends down in Austin did the same thing in 2016, which resulted in a thrilling 2OT victory for Texas.
Coming off a 5-7 season, this was a very exciting time for the horns. This became one of the many times over the last decade that the famous phrase was uttered:
TEXAS IS BACK!
However, the Brian Kelly led Notre Dame team turned out to be, as is often the case, completely fraudulent. They finished the season 4-8 while the horns went 5-7, with losses to Kansas, Kansas State, TCU and Cal (among others). It would unfortunately be another several years before Texas was in fact back.
This weekend, A&M will keep the tradition of beating overrated Notre Dame teams coming into our state. Although the golden domers have a better coaching staff now as compared to 2016, their inexperience at OL will prove to be a fatal flaw.
However, us Aggies will know going into it that this is not a big accomplishment. We will need to see consistent performances before we make any declarations of our team’s strength. We thank our brethren in Austin for taking the tough trail of premature boasting such that we may avoid these same follies.

If we upset top 10 ND, I am posting A&M is back at least 10,000 times the following week.

Notre Dame's average pre-season ranking over the last 10 years is 11. Their average finish to the year is 9. They've actually been underrated.
Want me to do it for AtM?

This will never backfire. Never.

I wouldn't consider us "back" unless we're at least 7-1 after LSU.

I will mortgage all my double wides on ND

What about the Appalachian State trap?

I think everyone is sleeping on A&M.
Posted on 8/26/24 at 11:56 am to Landmass
And we shouldn't be sleeping on them?
They showed nothing under Jimbo and all of that NIL money.
They have a new coach this year and are rebuilding.
What does that team have that shows you they can knock off a top 10 team?

Are you really “back” when it’s been since 1939?

I would take A&M seriously if this were the 1930s.
