Although the Bulldogs have dominated the series this century, 71-39-5 is lopsided, but not ridiculously one-sided. And Tech has (claims?) 3 NC's so they must have some belief they could be a dominant program..

OU/OSU seems like a similar situation albeit a little more one-sided. Those people hate OU as if their life depended on it. They can go 1-10 but if that one win was vs. OU, it's a wildly successful season.

What's the current state of y'all's in-state rivalry with Tech? Just wondering if it is similar to ours with OSU.

Me after Saturday's final: Maybe GT can...

Me half a second later: Georgia's going to beat the hell out of King and Co.

Bunch of nerds that couldn’t even count the correct number of seats in their stadium.

To be fair, it's probably hard to not lose your place.

Beating Tech is expected. Losing to them is the worse feeling in the world. It will get a coach fired if it occurs regularly.

They hate us more than anything.

It’s a good way to end the season and good viewing during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Fun game to attend at either stadium.

It probably was a hatefest 30 years ago, but I don't even think about them

Is it worse than losing to Florida in Athens?

I have always been a bit fascinated by the Ga/Ga Tech rivalry simply because the dynamics are a bit unsual.

Unlike Oklahoma/Oklahoma State... which is the typical Flag vs. Ag set up.

Georgia is both Flag and Ag... and their rival school is the STEM school. I think that it is maybe the only rivalry in the country that is set up that way.

You also have to throw in the the fact that Ga Tech, despite being the "little brother"... is located in the states' dominant and capital city and UGA was located in what was once the "backwater" college town.

There is no way that Ga Tech gets the typical rural support that is usually associated with a "little brother" Ag school.

Good points Gunga. I hadn't thought of it that way.

UGA has dominated the series but Tech will, every once in a while, act like they have a pulse. It doesn't mean much to UGA fans today unless they are more than about 40 years old or so because UGA has won way more than not but to older fans it means a little more most likely. I know there is a good bit of back and forth between alumni - Tech fans are prone to bragging about their salaries for some inane reason, I guess cause that's what you do when you attend a trade school. Its not really a heated rivalry, fans get along passably well during the game. There has been some animosity on the field at times but not so much recently. UGA winning is taken for granted by both fan bases. Losing to Tech will get a UGA coach fired if it happens too often. Its a good game to close the season and its a home field advantage for UGA no matter where its played. Tech sells season ticket packages when the game is in Atlanta by marketing them to UGA fans LOL....

Nerds have only 3 winning decades vs UGA, none since the 50's. Pretty close to total domination...

They hate UGA with a passion, they celebrate for a week anytime a UGA mascot passes and even celebrated the death of Larry Munson, our long time radio announcer when he passed, visit their Stingtalk site to get a feel...

Vile bitter little people IMO...

Only happened once in history and was expected at the time.

I hate losing to them. If I didn't work where I work, I'd have no interaction with any Tech fans.

So far today we have kind of bonded over beating FSU. Outside of the end of the regular season, there is no shite talking between us and is generally respectful. For the handful of Tech fans I talk football with, I'm happy to have someone talk CFB with in person who doesn't have a UGA bias.

And even they know the "Georgia football has had 187 arrests in the last 2 years" headline is bullshite after the speeding tickets are excluded.

Losing is miserable, but winning is sort of a non-event. During the Richt/Johnson era it was anxiety inducing because GT was actually pretty dangerous with the triple option.

In a way, I almost hope they get back to being a 7-9 win program so UGA can at least get some SOS benefit. But then their fans do something preposterously petty and I remember that it would be better for everyone if they just suck.

Other than a little ribbing, I don't hear shite from Tech fans when an Uga passes. I hear more from SEC fans than Tech fans. I can't recall a thing from a Tech fan after Munson died.

And I only know one Tech fan that goes to Stingtalk, and he just lurks.

It’s 100% pure hateraide for each other’s programs at all levels but we’ve been completely humbled by the Geoff Collins coaching disaster, so can’t say much these days. But, we have a new President, AD, and HC who are in sync and committed to improvement equal to our academics, probably the most support that athletics have had from the administration in the modern era.. I believe that our games vs. uga are going to get more and more competitive. Uga fans say they don’t care about us but i bet there’s nobody they hate losing to more.

4 NC’s btw…

Non-existent

Just look at the crowd when the game is played at GT.

Usually 75% GA fans occupying it

Old people with the good season tickets will tell any young whippersnapper willing to listen that Georgia Tech is our biggest rival and will always be our biggest rival, but anyone who's not old enough to remember the 1950s has a really hard time buying that.

The older boomers have PTSD from those 50's and 60's losses that cause them to put GT on the pedestal, even if GT goes 0-12.

Similar to Gen X having our own PTSD of the 90's and 00's where Spurrier & Meyer kicked our arse.
