The term baw is described thusly:

Meaning of Baw

quote:

Etymology of Baw The term “baw” in American slang is believed to have originated in the early 20th century, specifically among African American Vernacular English (AAVE) speakers. It is thought to be derived from the earlier term “bawdy,” meaning rowdy or unruly, which was later shortened and adapted into “baw.”

Also, don't use it on this site if you aren't an LSU fan; that is another condition that needs to be met.

Seeing other Alabama fans use it and fans of other teams is sickening and is the very definition of being cucked and simping for approval.

If you aren't black or Cajun or an LSU fan, stop trying to fit in and become what you are not. They don't appreciate you trying to take away their crawdad culture and no one thinks you are cool when you do it.

It makes you look weak. All LSU fans are free to use it because it is their thing. All Cajuns are free to use the term because their ancestry includes large amounts of African American heritage and American Indian heritage.

So by Cajuns using the term, it's not really appropriating a cultural characteristic to bolster their self-image at the expense of African Americans. Cajuns DNA is mostly African, a little French, and a little Indian. They have the absolute right to use the term.

Apologies that we cajuns defiled your fellow alabamaian purity- honestly we were trying to elevate your social standing from the horrid depths of incest and trailer trash

Carry on now

Somebody told this hillbilly that creoles have African ancestry, and redneck OP doesn't know what a creole is and just assumed cajuns and creoles are the same.

Naturally, you are too ignorant to know your own history. That is what makes you a Cajun, ignorance and stupidity.

The Acadians were trash from day one upon arriving in Louisiana and the French already there would have nothing to do with them and would not allow them within 25 miles of New Orleans, same with Mobile; I think it was a law.

These misfits, cowards to the last one who ran from the English with their testicles neutered, therefore settled Cajun Country and mingled extensively with blacks and Indians to survive, because they were basically retards who didn't know how to feed themselves or fight or protect their women, etc...

Blacks and Indians were very attractive to the Cajun women that the English didn't just simply keep for themselves because, you know, they were men and the Cajun males were helpless, ineffectual idiots with very well known proclivities to steal, lie, and were extremely lazy.

This is why the real French already settled in the area avoided them like the plague and would have rather associated with literal dog shite than a Cajun.

quote:

Cajuns + african ancestry

The Cajun people, originating from the Acadian region of Canada, have a complex and multifaceted ancestry. While they are often associated with French and Native American roots, there is evidence to suggest that some Cajuns have African ancestry.

Historical Context

During the 18th century, African slaves were brought to Louisiana by French colonizers, and many intermarried with enslaved Africans and free people of color. This led to the creation of a distinct Creole culture, which blended European, African, and Native American influences.

Cajun-Creole Interactions

As the Acadian exiles settled in Louisiana, they interacted with the existing Creole population, leading to cultural and genetic exchange. Some Acadians married into Creole families, while others formed relationships with enslaved Africans and their descendants. This intermingling resulted in a diverse population with African ancestry.

Evidence of African Ancestry

Census records: The 1790 and 1800 US Census records for Louisiana show that many Cajun families, particularly those living in the rural areas, had African slaves and free people of color living among them.
Genealogical research: Many Cajun families have documented African ancestry through DNA testing, family histories, and oral traditions.

Cultural practices: Cajun cuisine, music, and dance have African influences, reflecting the cultural exchange and intermingling between Acadians and enslaved Africans.

Notable Examples

The Gens de Couleur: A group of mixed-race individuals, including those with Acadian and African ancestry, who were born free in Louisiana during the 18th and 19th centuries. They played a significant role in shaping Cajun culture and identity.
The Creole-Cajun dialect: The unique language spoken by many Cajuns, which incorporates African influences and loanwords, reflects the linguistic exchange between Acadians and enslaved Africans.

Conclusion

The historical context of slavery, intermarriage, and cultural exchange has contributed to the complexity of Cajun ancestry, making it essential to acknowledge and respect the African influences that have shaped their culture and identity.

The word baw, itself, is a word created by Africans living in Louisiana, which the Cajuns incorporated into their own vernacular.

The point of the post was to remind everyone that if you aren't black, Cajun, Amerian Indian, or an LSU fan, it looks bizarre and contrived when you use the term "baw".

Its a decent attempt at trolling (ill bite) however you didn't think this one through.

According to your own words, culture should remain in its cultural territorial boundaries.

However american culture has conquered the entire world via american movies, american cuisine, american fashion (bluejeans for example) american language- undoubtedly you support all this unless you are a american hating citizen which is common among college youth-

therefore should we as americans not share our culture to the world? should we shut down Mcdonalds in 119 countries in order to preserve its authenticity as an Californian product?

To bring more of a common argument according to your posts, should we cajuns not share our culture to the broader states of our union? Which involves our language, our food, our way of life?

Is it really our fault that we provided a superior product that is adapted by the masses, in this case a choice of language that you personally dislike? Does history really matter in the origins of said language when its spoken among the masses in a online forum?

May Lord Almighty have mercy on you baw
