I distinctly remember after Saban had won a title (or two) at bama when his salary first eclipsed $4M/year. It was the highest in the country and it seemed insane that any coach made that much. I also remember around 2012ish or thereabouts when it was clear how elite saban was the *rumors* that texas was going to throw $10M/year at him. Nowadays that's practically the going rate...my how times have changed

And to think people were baffled when Saban was paid $4 million when we first hired him

Coaching salaries, players salaries, AD staff salaries, facilities costs, it's all great for those involved.

You have to wonder if paying coaches this much is going to be sustainable once player payroll kicks in?

The SEC took in $852M in revenue in 2023 - more than any other Conference.

NET assets gave each school @ $52M

It will be over $1B for 2024. Greg Sankey's $3.6M is the most egregious salary in the SEC other than Brian Kelly's son.

I realize you are basing this on the link you provided, but isn't LSU paying Blake Baker $2.5M per year as DC making him the highest paid assistant in CFB (at least at the contact signing time)?

NM…PREVIOUS POST APPEARED AS I POSTED.

I believe that was second to the B1G's $880 M.

Something smells fishy about this. The B1G doled out $60.5M per school and, as noted above, their total revenue wasn't much higher. How fat are the cats in B'ham getting?

SEC Office gets TWO school portions of the payout. So, this year we divided the profit by 16 with the 14 schools getting one share and the SEC getting two shares.

IMO, the 2 share deal to the SEC Office is outrageous.

The extra money we are getting from ESPN/ABC will ALL go to Texass and OU to give them equal shares with the rest of us in June, 25. It might be awhile before ESPN/ABC gives ALL of us more for adding OU and Texass.

My opinion is the fans are always the ones they don't really consider in any of this. Everyone is so died in the wool passionate about their teams, that they (the powers that be) couldn't care less about us when making any financial decisions. Well that is until recently it appears California people have plenty of other things to do rather than football on a Saturday.

Not sure if they are wrong or right, but is does piss me off the way the fans are just dismissed out of hand. frick the players and the coaches imo. They come and go, but the fans are true blue.

Other than me, I am a little wishy washy.

damn I remember when we had to hire junior as a student manager or something just to get his fatass daddy to be Muchamp's OC and sit on a cooler and call plays.

I used to love that he was so miserable sweating his arse off on the sideline in those early season games in the Swamp.

If you adjust for real inflation, it's still about the same really.

The American people have had a shite ton of wealth stolen from them over the past 15 years.

End the Fed.
