Some noise from CBS, per a hot take, that he will be the starting quarterback by end of season.

Thoughts?

Obviously if that’s the case it likely means we’ve laid an egg or two to get there.

He went 5-13 in A-day and looked pretty bad. He clearly needs a full year+ of college practices before he's ready.

Probably so.

Thorne sounded pretty optimistic at media day. I guess i would be worried if he didn’t.

With NIL, who can tell. So far, things seem iffy on QB recruiting. If Freeze doesn't feel confident with that or a transfer and he thinks White is his best option going forward, I could certainly see it. We have to improve this season, but we also need to set the stage to continue to bring in top offensive talent. In the NIL era, that begins with your QB.

Underlining, I guess we'd all be pretty worried if he wasn't chosen to be one of the representatives at SEC media days given all the positive reinforcement & gush of all off-season. IMO

15-0 ship btw wde

It is possible. I was thinking that he would be in the learning and development phase this season but stranger things have happened.

The coaching staff (right now) does not feel WW is anywhere near being ready to lead the offense.

He is slightly better reading defenses than Ashford was last fall. But that is expected for his age.

They feel great about his progress, his football IQ, and his attitude. He will be a very good QB. Just not now at the SEC level.

I heard the EXACT opposite

There was a pay article on on3 a week ago, said he looks awful. Can’t hit the broad side of the barn & some said he may never even play at AU. I have a screenshot of the article.

So which one is true?

I’m trying to add the screenshot of the article but I have no idea how to, I’ll just quote it, I’m sorry it was auburn undercover not on 3

“I’ve talked to 2 people that saw WW in practice & they said his accuracy is horrific. One said there’s no chance he will play this year regardless of injuries & one said he prolly will never play at Auburn. Hoping they’re wrong or premature.”

Depending of what other QBs develop and how much Walker develops him never playing might be true.

However he has all the physical tools needed to play in the SEC. He has some mechanical things he needs to clean up and that just comes for in practice reps of footwork and developing a nice quick throwing motion. He’s not horrible in that regard but need this first year for that. Once he gets that figured out he will have the opportunity to develop more on the scheme and reading college defenses.

It would probably help him to be the scout team QB but needs to travel with the team because the number 3 and 4 get few reps during the season it’s mostly mental reps when game planning starts
