Has the SEC announced a tiebreaker system for who plays for the conference title in FB?

I really think multiple SEC schools could end the regular season with the same record. Does anyone have a link for the tiebreaker yet?

If there isn't one.....what should it be?

Almost certainly will go off head to head and if they didn’t play they will go off the CFP poll ranking

In the event that Alabama is one of the teams in question they will use the SSPA (Sankey Subjective Polling Apparatus) to determine who gets in.

This kind of crap completely screwed Texas in 2008. We beat OU in the regular season, had the same record as them, were ahead of them in the polls going into our last regular season game, beat the aggies 49-9 in the final game, and then dropped below the Okies in an external poll and that cost us the chance to play in the Big 12 title game (and the national title game) because of a 3-way tie.

I tried to find the Big 12 tie breaker last year. I think they finally published it in November because they didn't have it figured out yet. .

Surely the SEC is smarter, but here's what google shows me

One would think that nearly 3 years after the SEC announced Texas and Oklahoma were on the way, we’d have a tiebreaker system locked in for the 2024 football season.

Nope. At least not publicly.

Forget same record.

This year Texas, Bama and Ole Miss don't play each other. All three could finish undefeated in conference play.

That's 3 of the top 4-5 SEC teams who could all be undefeated in the same year.

They all play UGA as well. So you could have UGA at undefeated and all three of them at 7-1 in the conference having a loss to the same team competing for one spot in the SECCG. Neither of those are impossible scenarios.

The upside is the SECCG only is important to get a bye. It's not something that might be necessary to get in the playoff like it was with 4 teams.

Can't beat a good old coin flip. Maybe HC pissing contest? Whatever they do it will be better than anything the Rig 12 comes up with.

My guess would be in the case of the same conference record it will be:

1. Head to Head
2. Combined record against common SEC opponents
3. Best win against the highest positioned SEC team working your way down.

It wouldn't surprise me though if they use CFP rankings after head to head though thinking that protects the SEC if a team screws up in their OOC games.

My prediction is that Bama, Texass, and OMiss will not all be 8-0 this season.

Mine is the same. All will have losses to UGA at the least.
