My nephews wanted me to take them over and try to find a ticket to the game tomorrow night but if I remember correctly the ballpark is in a pretty bad part of town, right? Not somewhere I wanna be after dark?

Yes it’s a dangerous part of the city. Has been for awhile now

Yeah so I don’t think I’m gonna go.

I’m guessing the city will provide added security there. But you will still have to travel through that area. I’d be well armed for sure
Friend of mine will be working security there he’s retired Jefferson county.

Parking is extremely limited over there. So for the Barons game last night, they were running shuttles from Legion Field over to Rickwood! Neither place is known as a Better Homes & Gardens neighborhood!

Go and do this. The parking lot at LF is lit. Nothing's going to happen to you on a shuttle. The kids will have a great time.

I'm most certain both the City of Birmingham and MLB are going to make sure measures are taken that there will be extra security, etc for this historic game.

Were the shuttles well run or was it a cluster? Or both?

I haven’t been over in that part of town since the 9/11 rescheduled Southern Miss game. Was hoping it had improved in 20+ years but guess it hasnt

I don’t know the answer to that one. I had some of my former players and some friends to go last night and they just commented about using the shuttle. I work nights and will be unable to go tomorrow night, so I didn’t even bother to ask.

Bad part of town is putting it mildly. Buckle up, partner, you're crossing over into Somalia-west.

Plenty of celebrities and security around. I went with college friends back in the early 80's and saw many games. Area may be slightly worse but it is no different than going to Legion Field.

I'm sure there will be extra security and law enforcement there just for that game. Still, I wouldn't linger there after the game. Unless maybe you want to be robbed or shot.

Thanks the kids to the game if you can find tickets. It will be fine and they will have a good time.

Happy that a bunch of tickets became available this week, dropping the prices
Furious that a bunch of grifters clearly entered the lottery with the sole purpose of selling the tickets for a profit

Not only that, Homeland Security is taking air samples in and around the stadium to test for potential bio terrorism attacks.

This.
There will never be a safer time to visit Rickwood than tonight.

I’m sure it will be as safe as it can be inside the stadium, there’s no question about that.
It’s the neighborhood itself to and from the stadium what you should be concerned with.

We live in a world where you can get shot shopping for groceries at Walmart because some idiot isn’t happy with his life and wants to take it out on the world.
You can live or you can live scared. I would go to the game if it’s something you want to do.
