I have a lot of fond memories of good times spent in Mad-town many years ago when I was a young man. I’d dearly love to go and have another Gyro at the Parthenon on State Street! AND Camp Randall has a reputation as one of the best venues in the B1G-Ego conference.

But health will prevent it. So I’ll have to live it vicariously!

Madison’s a FUN town, but slightly to the left of Berkeley, Austin, or Charlottsvile. :-(

I'm strongly considering it. I'll definitely be at OSU and WVU in the coming years (both are pretty close to me) but I'm also taking a two week vacation in November on top of two other weeks I've already taken, so that's the only thing holding me back. Flights to Chicago are pretty cheap though...

I can't decide on going to Madison or Norman next year. Madison is more of a pain for me in terms of things going on at work, but it's also the one less likely to come up again on the schedule.

Enjoy your trip. On Friday night I recommend doing the old Catholic Madison family tradition of a Friday night fish fry. Tip Top Tavern (the beer battered cod is better than the walleye), Kavanaugh's Esquire Club, or The Boat House. That time of year, the deck seating view of Lake Mendota in the evening at the Boat House is hard to beat. All three are on the north east side of town, out toward the airport.

Camp Randle is a good game day experience. When they start the jump-around, it may feel like the stadium will collapse but it should stay up...

American Airlines is now offering early access from Birmingham to Madison non-stop departing Friday Sept 13th and returning Sunday Sept 15th.

Between now and June 17th, this flight can only be booked using AAdvantage miles.

You know, I always look into these but they make absolutely no sense economically. Aren’t things supposed to be cheaper when you buy in bulk/group? Me and my dad go to one road game every year and spend way less than this. $1,300 per person for basically a 2 night stay at a hotel and a shuttle from the hotel.

“Includes food and entertainment”. Well it better be Foie Gras and the fricking Rolling Stones.

I just calculated what I think my dad and I will spend: flight, hotel, food, ticket and all and it’s about 1500-1700 between the two of us. These mfs crazy.

I’m going to start a travel agency for fans. “Ballin on a Budget Travels”. I’m getting you tickets on Spirit, you’re staying in a LaQuinta with a waffle maker, I’m renting a party bus to take you to the game. Buy student tickets from sorority girls and have them transferred over.

It works out perfectly for me because I'll be in Naperville the week prior so I plan on making the drive over Friday night.

Eh, I haven’t been there in a while, but in the 80s it was.
Long history of leftism, too! Back in the 60s the students engaged in full on terrorism, and they had at least one major bombing of a campus building.

100% agree just throwing it out there as another travel option for Bama fans.
