Back in 2015 this series was tied at 55 wins a piece. UGA has won the majority recently so has opened up an 8 game lead in the series.
A few years before that while Auburn still held the series lead, the points scored by each team was actually tied.
Historically it's a very close rivalry. It's only opened up a little with UGA dominating the last decade.
It's also odd in that in the early days of the rivalry it got played in a lot of different locations. In addition to Auburn and Athens, games have been played in Atlanta (both SECCG and regular season), Columbus, Montgomery, Macon and Savannah.
For about 20 years it was "the road team almost always wins." Until one day, suddenly it wasn't and "Georgia almost always wins."

For those who love history, check out this synopsis of the 1899 game, written back in 2013 by the historian, WarEagle Reader on his blog.

Basically one of the games counted today as a tie should have been an Auburn win but was wiped away due to the sun beginning to go down. Despite Auburn leading and holding possession of the ball with only seconds to play, the game was called a forfeit due to darkness and the points were wiped away resulting in a 0-0 tie.

Yes. That was from 1976-2002.
Georgia went 8-3-2 in Auburn during that stretch.
Auburn went 11-2 in Athens during that stretch.
Wild at the time…. That was basically 27 consecutive seasons of crazy upsets against each other.

Hasn’t been much of a rivalry lately. Chizik then Gus really let them go

During that same era or thereabouts neither Auburn nor UGA had ever won a SE conference title when they lost to UGA or Auburn....even back in the days when there were multiple SEC champs in some years UGA and Auburn had to win the DSOR to win a conference title.

1996 version of the DSOR was the first overtime game in SEC history. 4 OTS with UGA winning 56-49. UGA had NO business winning that game but in the series both teams have been guilty of winning some they had no shot to win.....
It really is kind of a "under the radar" rivalry...there is not nearly the contempt and disgust between the 2 fan bases as there is in most rivalries. It gets heated but not like the Iron Bowl or the Cocktail Party. There seems to be some mutual respect. 2 of the top coaches both schools have had played at the other school....Vince Dooley played at Auburn and Pat Dye played at UGA. There are sooooooo many ties between Auburn and UGA like that...it really is a pretty unique rivalry that kind of flies under the radar because there is not usually a lot of hatred between the 2.

That's the game which won me over for Bobo. I was a hater before the Auburn win. He had big brass balls in that one. And I have been a defender of all things Bobo since.

Why would anyone want any association with the azz-wipe cult of Lee county. I don't even want them in the conference.

Pretty incredible that George Rogers, Herschel and Bo were at South Carolina, UGA and Auburn all in a row....

Georgia went more than 365 days without beating Auburn in 2017.
We did not go 365 days without beating Auburn in 2017.I can't decide if you are thick or just a plain ole moron.
We beat Auburn on December 2, 2017. Now. Count from January 1, 2017 until December 2, 2017 and see how many days you come up with. Moron.
You set the dates. 2017. You do not count a part of 2016 as a part of 2017. Please tell me you did not go to college.

Kentucky-Tennessee started just one year after Auburn-Georgia in 1893, with Kentucky winning 56-0
