If he wants to play in the NBA he might need to play some 4

Has one more year if he wants to come back. He was same class as Dylan.

quote:I'm sorta confused on this whole "Broome getting some time at the 4". How much time could he put at the 4? He avg 25 min a game this year at the 5. Could he add another 5-7 at the 4, probably. But his home has to be at the 5 for those 25 min, Cardwell avg 15 min a game this year, he can't do much more than that with his offense...can he?
As long as the go-to crunch time lineup is Broome at the 5 I would be fine with 10-12 min of him playing some point forward

I think this is 100% the case. Only way he can move up draft boards is producing more facing the basket. Needs assurances he's going to have the chance to do that at AU.

It's a rumor from J Hoke I believe

From Richard Silva:
The SoCon isn't the SEC — one team in the KenPom top 100 last season (shoutout Bucky) vs. seven teams in the top 35, respectively — but JP Pegues played seven Quad 1/2 games at Furman in 2023-24. Here were his numbers against his best competition, per CBB Analytics:
34.5 MPG
20.4 PPG
4.9 APG
3.8 RPG
2.27 assist-to-turnover ratio
39.5% from 2-point range (5.4 attempts)
37.3% from 3-point range (8.4 attempts)
59.4% true shooting percentage
28.6% assist rate

Those are legit numbers especially considering that he wasn't playing with the same level of teammates as he was facing

Dude has a pretty shot.

Hoke had an update on the roster. Points of note are that Aden definitely isn’t returning and he’s not sure Tre would have a spot if he wanted back. Thinks Auburn goes back to the portal for another guard. Would basically be selling a backup spot though.
Also thinks Auburn will start ramping things up for recruiting a backup 4, assuming Broome returns and “starts” at the 4, now that they have their starting PG.
You can sell me on the twin towers offense as a rotational curveball but have a hard time seeing that being our main lineup, especially at the end of games.

Yeah I'm just not a huge fan of that as a primary way of playing. Even if that's what it took to get Broome to come back..

What does that do for Chaney then? If Broome would be the starer and we would be looking for a back up 4..
I agree though. I don't like the idea of big minutes with Broome at the 4. His post game is too valuable. I love Dylan, but we just aren't going to get much from him offensively. Also Broome is dominate inside, and while he improved his shooting.. do we really want him spotted up taking four 3's a game as opposed to getting 15-20 pts inside every night? Not to mention he might have a hard time driving on 4's. That's not even taking into account him having to guard on the perimeter.

Jay G is saying CMo is back and RJ Godfrey may be a portal addition

I love the sound of both of those things.
Is Denver 100% back? Haven’t seen or heard anything on him and him not being in the portal isn’t necessarily all I need to hear lol

I would think in this season of college sports no news is good news. Seems everyone fully expects him back and to have a large role

I think Chaney is fine being the backup. He’s has a ton of potential and played well last year but he’s not quite ready to be the starting 4 in Bruce’s offense.

Chaney is raw with more untapped potential. Would be uncomfortable going in with him as a starter.

Agreed and I think Chaney likely understands his role. The fact we are apparently set on grabbing another PF tells you that the twin towers lineup won’t be a primary rotation. If it were our focus would be on another C instead.
