I’m defusing the bomb if you will to beat the rest of this board to it. Just to serve as a reminder that there are plenty of conservative Horn fans.

Probably a board for this stuff here, but felt obligated to post anyway. SXSW is going on in Austin. I’ve heard about 80 bands/speakers/whomever have pulled out because the US Army is a major sponsor of the event this year. Oh, the humanity. All in an effort to support Palestine.

I’m glad that Abbott basically told them to GTFO the state and not to come back.
It’s just laughable to me that that caused such a response, yes even from the crazy far left. Honestly, I don’t think SXSW foresaw it either otherwise they wouldn’t have sought out the Army as a main sponsor.

Freaking idiots. Had to vent.

I apologize for the bleeding hearts. Personally I’ll be much more at home in these SEC venues and can’t wait.

Politics board or OT Lounge but I think we all are familiar with having to deal with the crazy leftists in our own pockets.

Most SEC towns are college-dominated towns and will adopt some crazy causes. Austin is unique in that it is a big city that acts like a college town and the state has two flagships where, politics aside, city people send kids to UT while rural people send them to aTm given the choice.

It’s a shame that Austin is so far left of the Texas governor.

I could never live in Austin again. I still visit quite a bit but I just can't stand planning my day around traffic and the never-ending liberal bullshite.

Moved to NW Alabama about 5 years and couldn't be happier about it. The only thing I miss (besides friends & family) is the Hill Country and they're doing their best to ruin that too.

I grew up in Dallas and was raised on UTx football. Austin was great when I was a kid in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. I don’t know how things went so wrong, but man… Austin is a shite show!

My grandpa fought in Iwo Jima for their right to act like a bunch of dildo waving shitheads and scream about how much they hate America. If they were all shipped to Haiti tomorrow, our country would be a better place. I wonder how much they'd hate America then?

Austin sucks, but it’s not because of the university.

This proves how people can't read. The bullshite mulberry harbor we're sending to Gaza is captained by a US Army Chief.

Not that we should be feeding terrorists, but FML. The US Army is *exactly* who is sending relief, somehow with no boots on the ground, because pallets of shite magically make their way to shore, so f#*ing dumb.

This seems rather idiotic on multiple levels. 1) the US Army isn't currently involved in the conflict, 2) the US Army is not a policy maker; it goes and fights the battles it is instructed to fight. Those decisions are made by politicians like Brandon. 3) the reason cities like Austin exist and can host music festivals like SXSW is in no small part due to the prior activities of the US Army. 4) I'm sure Bibi will reconsider the Israeli position on Palestine after hearing that a bunch of second-rate bands pulled out of a music festival in a mid-sized city in Texas over sponsorship by a US government agency that hasn't been involved in the Israeli-Palestinian land dispute since the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
