As someone who lives in Athens area and has a 17 year old daughter who her and her friends frequent the area this happened it is a very trying time for our community… a sense of fear for the younger people who are not used to this happening so close to home.
almost everyone in my neighborhood including both my neighbors are affiliated with UGA .
Prayers for not only for the UGA community but the families who are living their worst fear…

The trails behind the parking lot get decently isolated and it's amazing that this kind of thing hasn't already happened tbh

Honestly I feel the opposite way. 9 AM run at the IM fields is extremely popular, even back in the trails. I can’t believe whoever did it got away with it. There had to be tons of people around

Happened around noon yesterday. She was a student at Augusta University. Still no one in custody. Such a horrible situation and I’m praying for both families that are going through this tragic time

A female student at the Augusta University College of Nursing in Athens was discovered deceased in a wooded area near Lake Herrick on Thursday, Feb. 22, sparking suspicions of foul play.

I hope that clarifies the school situation.

Last thing Athens and UGA needs is the prospect of some piece of shite running around killing random women for the fricknof it

Hearing they have cameras on the trail near where she was found. Hopefully they get the person responsible.

IMO I believe it was her boyfriend and no one else should be in danger in the area

Reminds me a little bit of how Gainesville was rocked in the 90s due to the Gaines vile ripper

I remember that time. I was just down the street from a couple of those sites. It was chaos in town.

To expand on this, she was a UGA student and member of the AXO sorority who was starting nursing school at the AU campus in Athens (UGA doesn’t hve a nursing program so this is pretty common). From Woodstock originally.

The boy who committed apparent suicide the night before in one of the dorms (unrelated, just horribly coincidental timing) was a freshman Kappa Sig from Marist.

There has also reportedly been an international student who passed yesterday morning at a local hospital with meningitis.

Just an unbelievably rough 48 hours for the whole campus.

So you're saying that if someone wants their classes cancelled on a day, they could consider murdering another person to get it done?.......really?

Seriously, sending prayers to the UGA student body and all those effected by this. Very sad.

Yep I was living in Oxford Manor on Archer and it was nuts. Thankfully this doesn't sound like the same situation. Hope they catch the scumbag quickly.

Have you heard things to this slant? Or is it just a gut feeling?
