Seven figures for a safety?
How is this sustainable in any way?
Teams are going to be $25 mil+for the starting 22 in no time.
Then with a new class coming in every year. How can this work long term?

I get what you're saying but the NCAA still said inducements for signing with a school was prohibited.

Don’t think it will for most schools. I suspect schools like Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU will likely put together a big NIl package for certain classes but other schools will be able to sustain that kind of pay for play more regularly. I’m not saying Bama broke but we’re not even close to Texas or Ohio State money. Guys this will be what CFB is. Until there’s some kind of equity rules put in place to level the playing field this will be what it is.

It's not, but this is the world we live in. There is absolutely zero excuse for a team like Texas or A&M to not buy a championship before they put a lid on this shite.

I don’t think even the big money schools can keep this up.
$30-40 mil per season to meet you NIL commitments. This in addition to other funding needed from big boosters for buyouts and facilities.

So much for this thread being info only about actual portal news.

It’s fine. We will update the first post as things happen so you don’t have to ready anything.
As people come and go just post and I’ll see it.

A great first step would be a salary cap for incoming freshman. It's beyond ridiculous that guys with no college experience are getting paid often more than the majority of NFL players. The avg NFL salary is about $450,000 and that's usually for buys who played solid in college for 3-4 years.
That way guys who have actually already played college football would rightfully be the highest paid players.
I mean don't forget the Ohio State AD said that a lot of these high school kids are requiring $5K just for a campus visit.

Where do you guys get 7 figures now?
If osu offered 2 mill and we were at 1 mill, how does that equate to 7 figures.
Maybe someone in Tuscaloosa just has brains. You can pay several top olinemen for that kind of money.

This board never seems to fail at making me feel smarter than I really am. I’m not a smart man.

There isn't going to be in changes made to how this works. This process is playing out just like they wanted.
Who is benefiting?

It’s not how anyone wanted any of this. Every bit of it from the portal to nil is from court decisions. Either the ncaa has the worst lawyers ever or a. Completely indefensible position because they lose every lawsuit that comes their way. I am beginning to think they have Kramers lawyer on retainer.

I don’t know how many times this has to be said but the NCAA could have the best lawyers in the world and still lose these cases. It’s not a matter of the NCAA screwing up, it’s the fact that this model was allowed to exist for so long people think it was legal in the first place
