Is there any Alabama coach post Bear Bryant that hasn’t recruited great here?

Reading this board is deflating as an alumni and fan. All these opinions about who should be hired and how good or bad the hires are is crazy to me. None of us are really qualified to criticize CKD's selections. We should be uniting and be behind the staff and the players that want to be here, and the team we have. Not splintering. That's what these other douche canoe coaches like bowl cut, freshwater, and bevo want. Disagree if you want, but try to be on the same team.

Shula was very mid. Price never got the chance. Francine was ok but not great. I’m only 49 and no one followed that crap during Perkins and Curry. Stallings was a beast.

That isn't why he was fired. He was fired because he stayed out drinking all night, and the day of the semifinals he needed an IV to sober up

Wow you have a pretty good memory. I had a time when I went after Boz after my dad died. I was a jerk. I apologized and now I rarely question Boz’s intel. I assume that’s what you are talking about. I don’t remember if that was here or on Woolly. I actually was not pessimistic there much. In fact I was often in disagreements with DD4Bama because he was too pessimistic.

I have a terrible memory lol. 16 years of football straight into being a competitive fist fighter will do that to you. I’m not coming at you man, I’m sure you’re a good dude. That’s why I think maybe a break and reset will help. We are all vested in this whole deal, and it’s been a wild lost 4-5 days. I got into it with a very close friend of mine who’s a GA fan this morning and had to step back and apologize. Don’t be a dick like me is all I’m saying. It’s cool to vent. This is a good place for it, but at some point we have to accept and move on. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t care. You’re going to watch on Saturdays in the fall and cheer regardless. Take these changes for what they are and move on. That’s my .02 any ways.

I mean, Michigan won the title game with a bunch of 3 stars, right? This is where good coaching comes in. Not saying DeBoer and his staff is better than Harbaugh’s yet, but he turned around UW from being a friggin terrible 4-8 team in 2021 and made it to the title game faster than Harbaugh did in how many seasons of being Michigan’s head coach?

If he loses to Auburn as many times as Harbaugh did in a row he won’t get the chance to prove it.
BTW Michigan was the anomaly of the 4 team playoff era. Every other team that has won was full of elite talent. They really got lucky it was such a crazy year in the sport. Also let’s not forget they cheated to get there.

Every real Bama fan I know is ecstatic about the hires.

Some posters are super negative because it gets them the attention they can’t get otherwise.

SIAP- Not trying to throw cold water on the fire because I’m fine with Wommack, but I have seen several people post that South won 10 games this year. They went 7-6.

Dennis Franchione and Mike Shula. I guess we have to put Mike Price in the never gave himself a chance to recruit (football players, anyway).

Cheers. On a serious note, I don’t think it’s a problem to share an opinion… even a negative one. I think that our entire fanbase is getting exhausted that every time we hit the internet, a new dude has hit the portal. We are all trying to be optimistic. We know that we have some large hurdles, and maybe a rough season ahead… but we don’t need to be reminded constantly. Obviously certain players leaving hurts, but we can talk about things we like instead of harping on the negatives. Take the hits as they come, and move on. It’s a sensitive time for all UA fans haha

Very fair and honest post. I appreciate the honesty,

He won 10 games there two years ago, thats what they’re referring to, 2022.

They did beat Oklahoma State 33 to 7 this season.

Oh Mike Price could recruit if you know what I mean…

Hard to count Fran and Shula with that being during probation. They weren’t great, though.

I’ll always appreciate Shula landing Andre Smith at least.

Good catch. Believe I was one of those. 10 win season was in ‘22.

Its only been 2024 15 days, I think most of us still refer to 2022 as “last year” out of habit.

Would I have liked to see names like Schumann or Minter as the DC? No question about it. But I do support our new coach. I knew we would lose a number of players, but not the number of db’s we are looking to lose should the decision by CD go badly for us (here’s hoping you’re right Boz). I have had to step away from the keyboard a bit myself due to emotion. It wouldn’t hurt any of us to examine if we need to do the same occasionally.
