And Parker was doing that at Iowa with 3 star talent sprinkled with a few 4 stars. That’s why he would just get overwhelmed by Ohio State and Michigan and Penn St. He would give them fits, but eventually talent would win out and Iowa’s D would crumble. I don’t think that would be a problem at Alabama. If you don’t think that man did a wizards work at Iowa, you’re wrong. If T Rob ain’t coming, Parker needs to be the call.

Lane at LSU would be the wild ride. Maybe they would steer clear because of association with coach O. Or maybe that would draw them to him

Per Charlie Potter
quote:

Travaris Robinson was announced as Georgia’s new co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach on Saturday, but BamaOnLine has learned that Robinson, Alabama’s defensive backs coach last season, may not be completely out of the door in Tuscaloosa.

Multiple sources confirm that Robinson interviewed for the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator opening with new head coach Kalen DeBoer on Sunday. One source believes Robinson has an offer. We don’t have a timetable for a decision, but it should be soon.

Last year’s coordinator, Kevin Steele, retired just before the national title game, and Robinson, has DC experience, having coordinated the defense at South Carolina from 2016-20.

He could get an off field job like QC analyst, or some such. We would still be paying him through the length of his contract, anyway, wouldn't we?

If we're paying him OC money to be a film study cut-up guy, I feel like that is a personnel inefficiency. They either want him to be a dedicated QB coach and they're willing to overpay for that because QB development is so imperative...or they don't need Rees on payroll anymore.

I read he has a 4.1 mil buyout.

But don't we owe him for the remainder of his contract? Or is there a clause?

Unless he takes another on field coaching job, we have to pay him for the next year. This late in the season, he would most likely take an analyst position somewhere else and we still have to pay him. If that is the case, might as well be with us for continuity.

Bama is paying him if he is on the field, in a booth, a film room, or on his sofa.

His pride or a fear of friction from the new regime may keep him out of crimson. I wouldn't be surprised to see him rejoin LSU at this point as an analyst. Or, I'm sure Kirby's next copycat move is to become the next great home for wayward former HC and Coordinator analysts

He’d be crazy not to take the DC job. He doesn’t have to move, his players he’s familiar with and he gets the promotion he wants while being able to call plays/run his defense.

Come on T Rob.

Getting T Rob to stay would be so huge. He may not be the very best DC out there, but he’s solid and him staying would go along way in keeping our guys on defense here.

TRob was calling the defense on gamedays anyway. He probably could use a graybeard in an analyst role to help him out like Steele. I am not concerned about TRob being the DC. I think he can do it with support. A certain film junky retiree will be over in the stadium doing something or another.

Coach Saban will probably have a film room in his new office at BDS

I like T Rob a lot but can we please stop saying this shite. Kevin Steele at Auburn was probably the best DC in this conference for a 3-4 year period. Hell coach Saban hired him 3 different times at Alabama.
