Bisontis & Diggs hurt.

Diggs is another really tough one. I thought there was an outside chance he’d test the draft waters, he still could I guess. These are much worse than the LT Overton’s and Jardin Gilbert’s of the world
We need to land the UTSA edge or Princely from Florida

In the moment things aren't looking awesome, but I think we need to have a little patience here. Some guys could pull their name out and we'll surely be getting our share of incoming transfers. I will wait until we're done before I jump off any bridges just yet.

Yeah I think anyone being realistic knew there’d be a lot of attrition especially on the DL once Elijah left. In general on our boards I think some of our fans who don’t follow college football as close don’t understand the power of the portal and how much talent is available in it now because Jimbo shunned it and then just targeted a handful of Addazio guys last year

Buddy said maybe he's checking NIL before entering the draft.

He's not ruling it out though. Either he's leaving or just trying to shake some cash from the NIL Tree.

Chappell in the portal now too. Might be easier to keep track of who isn’t in the portal….

These are the guys that went 5-7 and 7-5. Let them leave.

So you want every player on the team to transfer? Odd take
Posted on 12/7/23 at 6:56 am to BigB123
Sure. Other than COVID year, we’ve finished in the top 25 once since 2014.
Acting like the pieces are in place and we are a coaching change step away from excellence is delusional.

I mean, that is kinda what most Aggie fans think. We have (had?) a top 5 roster based on 24/7 composite talent, new facilities, large assistant salary pool, etc. pretty much everything you could think of. We should be winning more games, that’s why the athletic department just ate a 77 million dollar buyout because Jimbo was given every tool he needed and went 8-4, 5-7, and 7-5. The head coach was what was holding us back, not the roster.
Im not saying every single player in the recent classes is a hit, but if you don’t think there’s a lot of talent already on campus, I’d say you’re the delusional one. Would rather have us “retool” the roster vs rebuild…

Lots of good pieces on this team now. Every good piece that leaves has to be replaced.
I would rather not have a team in 2024 that is made up of true freshman. That’s just me.
We need to get Nikes and a few others back in the fold. Some can certainly go and we can upgrade.
If we had 2/3 good offensive lineman on this team to start the year…. This season is on a completely different trajectory.
That’s my take anyway.

Fair - but I think heart and culture are in need of a fix as much as the coach. I do think HS “Star” ratings are overblown - a look at the top 25 any given year will show you that. 5 stars often think they’ve achieved all they need by getting that 5th star in HS and never get better in college. Give me 3 stars with a chip on their shoulder.
I’m tired of fearing being labeled a 2%er for saying A&M football provides unacceptable returns on the support of the fans, university and BMAs. A program with the resources of Texas A&M should be top 25 every year.

The hit rate on 5* vs 3* is worlds apart.
There is a reason why the teams with the most stars win the most games, generally.
Most talent Per 247
1. Bama 12-1
2. Georgia 12-1
3. Ohio St 11-1
4. Texas A&M 7-5
5. Clemson 8-4
6. t.u. 12-1
7. Lsu 9-3
8. USC 7-5
9. OU 10-2
10. UO 11-2
Teams with most 3*
1. Texas Tech 5-4
2. Stanford 3-9
3. Cal 6-6
4. Pitt 3-9
5. Indiana 3-9
6. Iowa 10-3
7. West Virginia 8-4
8. Arizona 9-3
9. Baylor 3-9
10. Michigan St 4-8

Does anyone do that? I think that would be the expectation on this board.

Yeah, isn’t it something like every national champion the last decade plus has had a top 7 roster when you average their previous 4 years or recruiting classes? That’s why it was so weird to see TCU there and I think their record this year (5-7) showed last year was a huge abnormality/fluke.
But it’s still frustrating that we haven’t managed a way to at least “fluke” our way into a title game since 1939….

I’d love to see who’s calling you a 2%er, because A&Ms return on athletic expenditures in the big 3 sports has been abysmal for decades. We absolutely should have more success with our resources, expecting better results than what we’ve gotten isn’t unreasonable at all.
Too many old Ags happy with mediocrity and that a 2-10 football season was successful if we beat the longhorns as one of our two wins. I’m hoping with the gap we’ve had since playing them, some of that mentality will be gone.

No - to clarify - no one on this board throws out the 2%er. Seems this board is a bit more based in the reality of our situation than a good number of our fan base.
I think the National Championship talk needs to cool until we show we can finish in the top 15 for a couple years in a row.

I’d say we need to stop the NC talk until we can get into a conference championship game. We haven’t even done that in 25 years.
Posted on 12/8/23 at 1:14 pm to Mars United
Most NC talk coming from any rational fan was simply stating that if there was ever an opportunity, it would have been last year with how the schedule set up/avoiding Georgia and Bama being down.
I don’t think anyone really thought we’d win it all, just the stars aligned for the best chance at it.

The NC talk is just as its simply a goal for us, like it is everybody. I dont think any rational fans think we are close. We have a lot of the resources necessary to make it happen, but have a lot of work to do.
