I love how the Buckeyes and Wolverines always beat their chest about the amount of viewers they draw. Well, well.

SEC blows away all conferences

Who the frick wants to watch a Notre Dame or Ohio State game anyway? It's as torturous as trying to sit through a baseball game.

A few thoughts:
1. There is a reason CBS has maximized their number of Bama games to pick and why ESPN is quick to take any leftover Bama games they can get. Bama consistently draws the top audience of anyone in college football. However, their popularity seems to be waning just a bit nationally. I think there is a bit of “Bama fatigue” going on the past few years with their games not drawing quite the numbers they used to.
2. In the SEC, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, and Oklahoma are the next big audience magnates for the SEC.
3. Texas is not the ratings juggernaut they pretend to be. Their overall tv ratings have been very disappointing. We’ll see if that changes once they join the SEC. They, along with Texas A&M, Florida, and Tennessee are in that third tier together. Solid audiences, but a bit behind that other group.
4. As for expansion, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to bring in new teams. Clemson’s audience is horrible considering how strong they’ve been as of late. Florida State’s draw is decent, but nothing too impressive. Miami and Virginia Tech simply are not national draws right now.

South Carolinas number are a bit surprising. I would’ve assumed they’d be better

Sports Media Watch blog reports these numbers and 2013 is the oldest complete data they show.

So basically 10 of Lsu and Auburn’s games on this list are because of their annual games vs Alabama.

The entire SEC East has been hampered by only having one decent team. They just don’t get the big tv slots on CBS or ESPN prime time.

Notre Dame with arguably the largest fanbase in the country and having their own TV network being 5th is weird.

Texas plays a couple of games each year on LHN with its 10k viewers
So that number is skewed
