That’s a brutal away game slate plus a home game against UGA. Conference scheduling is going to be a bitch moving forward. Makes you wonder why we’re doubling up on our Power 5 OOC opponents. Gives us a slim margin of error even with the 12 team playoff.

If they determine 12 team playoff participants the same way the 4 are picked now, there is zero reason to challenge yourself to a respectable OOC slate.
Wins are all that matters.
A 7 point win over a Texas State at Chorpus Christi is way more valuable to the committee than a one point loss to any P5 team.

These games were scheduled before there was a hint of the 12 team playoff.

Which makes those decisions seem even worse.

So Bama will likely go:
@LSU
FCS
@OU
Iron Bowl?

Ouch.

Makes me wonder if conferences might end up ditching the conference championship games. You run the real risk of knocking one of your teams out of the playoffs.

Yeah.

If we beat Georgia this weekend and still wind up getting left out because of that home loss to Texas back in early September, we should immediately buy ourselves out of the OOC games we have scheduled over the next 10 seasons.

Next year we play at Tennessee, at LSU, and at Oklahoma to say nothing of playing at Wisconsin and at home against Georgia in September. Cap it all off by playing a (likely) improved Auburn team to end the season, followed by a possible berth in the SEC Championship Game the very next weekend. That is a VERY brutal schedule.

The schedule is actually insane. @Wisconsin. Vs UGA. 3 of the last 4 weeks are @LSU, @OU, and Auburn. Jesus

I started a thread the other day about our future OOC schedules and a few chimed in that they thought it was great. This isn’t PlayStation. Schedules like these take a toll and they clearly don’t add value towards winning a championship.
