He's also a Duke basketball fan who talks shite about Bama basketball and doesn't support his Alma Mater except in football.

In all fairness, Bama basketball deserves all the shite talked about them.

They absolutely spent more money trying to prosecute Updyke than they got from him in restitution payments.

Was stupid to ever pursue that.

Not prosecuting people is why San Francisco has become uninhabitable. The threat of prosecution is an absolute must. Even if you have to make examples out of people, the cost of not doing it is too high to let most things go. It’s wild to see mobs of people just walking into stores and stealing tons of merchandise in America, with little fear of prosecution.

It is kind of ironic that Jimmy Raines is a prominent booster for AU.

I stopped a robbery of a local Dollar General store. Brought back in a cart full of items. The clerk thanked me and said they aren't allowed to stop people. Tbf it was 2 males. However I've heard of other chain stores being the same way.

Back in the day it was a real treat to catch a shoplifter. Everyone got a lick in as you waiting for the police to arrive to arrest the scum.

This forum is the only place in the world where people pretend to care about Alabama basketball.

I don’t care that they prosecuted him but they tried to fine him a million dollars. Might as well fine him a unicorn because you have about as much a chance of getting that out of him.

Pretty sure they found those trees had just a few years left to live due to all the added stress of washing the TP out of them over the years.

Fine him $10-15k. 30 days in jail. Call it a day.

There was a magazine published by Auburn University in 2007ish (I think it was an alumni periodical) that stated the trees were likely to die from the repeated rollings and clean up.

If that's your standard, then you're in favor of just shutting down LE and prosecuting agencies right? Didn't have you pegged for a fan of Soros politics.

Fact is restitution payments NEVER make up for the cost of a prosecution whether the crime is some random crackhead stealing your $150 air buds or Bernie Madoff stealing $65 billion.

The point of a criminal prosecution is to punish the offender and hopefully deter them from future criminal behavior, not get restitution.

My beef is that the state should have been encouraging more terroriststic acts against Auburn University and their fans. That aligns better with my politics.

He killed trees. He caused no harm to anyone.

We're not talking about letting people shoplift as long as the value is $999 before tax.
