The pick 6?

It looked to me like Thorne literally stared Fairweather down and just threw it.
It was pitiful.
Was shadowing the reason he did not see DB?
Also many of our routs are short of the sticks, can we not push the ball down the field more?
Saw several drops today. I hope we can show improvement at Arkansas. We may need 35 to win.

He definitely didn’t stare him down. He was looking deep and then checked it down. No clue how he didn’t see him though.

Fairweather just stood there and let him take it away from him. It was a shite throw but the receiver has to fight more than that.

Yeah, it was just a shite play from top to bottom.
If you want to throw from that position of the field, throw on FIRST down. Don’t run for no gain two plays in a row THEN decide you’re going to take the risk to throw on 3rd and long when the defense will expect and defend the pass FIRST. So initially? Shitty play calling.
Quarterback? Poor decision, 100%.
Receiver? As Laniers pointed out, lazy and didn’t give a frick.
So basically a shite avalanche from top to bottom.

I watch bama and LSU receivers and it’s depressing. They all attack the ball and actually run back to the ball on their comeback routes. Ours sit there and just hope they don’t drop it.

Would have to know the route to really know what happened. If it Was a sit down route then Fairweather was at fault. If it was a an out then Thorne made a horrendous throw. We have seen many misreads by both the QB and WRs on option routes.
So we will never know unless Freeze says so in the press. But from Thornes reaction he appeared at fault. Because normally he’s very animated when the WR is in the wrong spot

Probably since the B1G plays a lot of mid day games. Maybe he has a sensitivity to sun or something.
Why are you the way you are?

Then Fairweater stood that and let that guy take the ball from him. Lack of effort to say the least
And I agree, and its not just Bama and LSU, kids on small teams are way better consistently. Its like there is something in the water at the school that makes quarterbacks suck and receivers have weak hands
Its why we should just run the damn ball 80% of the time

The TD drop was between both hands.
How does a scholarship athlete drop that one?
I know guys drop passes each week. The drop by the Vandy DB in the end zone was an easy catch.

We won 31-15.
Malzahn struggled in his 4th season at Auburn with Vandy in Jordan Hare more than we struggled yesterday afternoon. Those are facts.
quote:The temptation to just run the ball does seem appealing if you want a shot in the arm, but Hugh Freeze wants to make our offense modern, now. He wants to drag our offense to where our QBs and WRs and route trees do not suck. So Freeze needs Thorne to take care of the ball at the ten yard line.

I didnt like the play design that resulted in the interception. Fairweather is pretty big and a quicker receiver needs to be fielding passes in the flats. It is not like Fairweather is some yards after the catch stud.

To me, this game showed more about our WR issues than anything...

It honestly did. And I will be glad with Tyler Fromm graduates. Dude has not done shite since we signed him.

The most difficult position to play on the field and the greatest know nothings evaluate every play from the advantage of a high chair ......

that was the first thing to run through my mind. Why now? I'dhave to rewatch, but say he did catch it and was immediately tackled, would it have been a 1st down?
Posted on 11/5/23 at 7:30 am to makersmark1
That pass needed to be on a rope. He just flung it out like he was playing catch.

And like guy above said it was almost a lob. It was also to the center side of the field, not the short side, where the defender would have to go through the receiver to get to the ball. Really bad placement for a pass that far from a 1st down (on 3rd). All this really make's me think he went myopic or was shadow blinded.
Was just too bad of situation for him to willing thrown into.

I will complain about 3-4 throws I know Thorne stood flat footed which is poor technique.

On the replay, there looked to be a guy wide open around the 20, maybe a deep hook pattern. Were we driving into the sun?
