opening drive of 2nd half was so frustrating. Ran right down the field on them and then on 3rd and 2-3 he calls a pass.

I think they were trying to build JM's confidence and get him an easy pass there. But i agree it was stupid play calling. Just run the ball. We shouldnt be afraid of 4th and inches.

We had a TD in the bag third down with a run instead of throwing the ball we could have went for it on fourth if we were short. But no we had a throw away pass attempt.

If he'd run it on 4th down and not made it, we would have gone into overtime today.

They hadn’t stopped the run all drive.

yeah, we seemed to abandon the run game just as it was getting going.
Also don’t understand why we haven’t used Robbie Ouzts on that left side to chip block or slip out as a receiver. The guy can catch the ball.

I’m not sure Rees is a good OC

He's a huge improvement over BoB. On 2nd and goal from the 1, he has Milroe under center and does the mush push for an easy TD. fricking BoB would have been in the shotgun and we'd have lost 3 yards, thrown incomplete on 3rd down, and kicked a FG.

Rees is a work in progress, but I think his ceiling is higher than BoB's ever was gonna be.

I honestly think Rees has gotten the most possible out of Milroe at this stage in his progression as a quarterback.

They hadn't stopped the run short that entire drive. Run it on third either make the first down outright and all your options are on the table if you do not.

You can still kick, or you can go. But the throwaway pass took that off the table. Milroe did the right thing by living to play another down and that was good, but the call was putrid.

One thing that frustrates me is Rees has ZERO imagination. Yes, I get it that Proctor is getting his lunch eaten often and Milroe isn't the greatest but it just seems like there is little or no imagination on how to mitigate those situations.

Personally, I think Rees is going to have to put a TE along side Proctor pretty much the entire game next week. Tennessee got enormous pressure off the edge all day on A&M. They'd eat Proctor alive all day if left by himself.

And WHO THE HELL PICKED THE O LINE COACH?!! Saban or Rees?

The Oline coach has been here a year longer than Rees.

This is Eric Wolford’s second season as OL coach. You obviously follow the program closely.

I think Wolford gets time to develop his own guys. Like you said, it’s only his second season. And frankly we have misses and busts in OL recruiting from the time Flood and Marrone were here. Flood was a great technical coach but below average recruiter. Marrone was neither.

It’s similar to the issues we saw with the DL having assistant changes on a regular basis. We had Dunbar, Kuligowsi, and Baker in consecutive seasons as DL coach. It hampered recruiting and development. That started around 2018 and we are just now seeing the fruit of the labor by Roach.

Constant assistant change and recruiting misses and bad evaluations are an even bigger deal on the OL. I understand people are frustrated, especially after preseason hype, but it will get better. Still a young OL overall.

I agree with you about the OL. I would say it is more likely that they develop into a good OL in the 2nd half of the season than Milroe becomes a reliable passer.
