I have never been one of those who felt the need to predict that a head coach will get fired. The athletic director makes that decision. I won’t have anything to do with it. They don’t tend to share their thinking with the media. Will Hunter Yurachek be influenced by a growing pushback against Pittman on social media from Arkansas fans? I don’t have a clue.

I do know that it’s impossible for me to once again defend the decision to go for it on fourth and one with a running play out of the shotgun. Pittman/Enos tried that against BYU and the pushback against that failed decision was like a storm front blowing in. The notion that those two men would do it again this week is baffling.
To me it was a sign of arrogance. All you fans who think we can’t convert a fourth and short out of the shotgun with an offensive line that is struggling to run block, watch us prove you wrong.

So where to we go from here? I know what I would do if I were retired and watching games from home. I’d turn my attention to the other athletic programs at the University of Arkansas. I told a buddy over the phone that I watched and enjoyed Arkansas’ win in soccer and volleyball this week. Soccer is in the Top 10 and Volleyball is Top 15.

Basketball is just around the corner and there are projections that Eric Musselman has a Final Four team in the making. Right now that’s just talk but based on his track record, his recruiting and his use of the portal it doesn’t seem like a stretch. Unlike football, basketball season has become fun again.

The softball program is in great shape under Courtney Deifel and Dave Van Horn’s 2023 baseball recruiting class was just named No. 1 nationally.
If Yurachek can preside over that type of success I see no reason why he can’t figure out this football issue. I flatly reject the notion that you can’t win big in football at Arkansas. Frank Broyles did it. He did it with a staff that could recruit and coach. His offensive coordinators in the 60’s knew how to call plays. Lou Holtz, Ken Hatfield, Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino also had top 20 football teams at Arkansas.

So fix it Hunter. I’m not going to suggest how. That’s not my function. But with some exceptions Arkansas has the best fans I’ve ever been around. They deserve and yes bleed for a football team that can make noise in the SEC. With an expanded college football playoff system they also deserve a team that get in the mix for a national title using that system. TCU did it last year. Is there something about TCU football that exceeds what can be expected at Arkansas?

Northwest Arkansas is a wonderful place to live. It provides an environment where college athletes can succeed and fans can enjoy that success. Yes, even in football.

So make it happen Hunter.

Good, nothing worse than pumping sunshine. Nothing to pump with this staff right now.

I wish we had kiffin. We’d never win a title and probably never beat Bama, but hell we already know those seem to be out of the question at least we could win 9 or 10 games every couple years

I'm not going to crucify Pittman like so many on here just can't wait to do, because I remember how bad we were under Chad. We would have lost that game to A&M by 50 with the Chadster in charge.

But, that having been said, I think it is increasingly clear that Pittman has taken the team as far as he can. He brought us back from the dead, which is basically all we were hoping for when we hired him.

No one sings the praises of Bowden Wyatt (not at Arkansas though he is a hall of fame coach) or Jack Mitchell but after a disastrous run of Arkansas football they built the program up to where Frank Broyles could come in and do big things.

We hired Pittman to stop the bleeding and set the table. He has done that. Ease him out the door, give him a nice retirement package, and use him as a football ambassador because even though folks are upset about this year, most folks in the state still love the guy.

Firing shiteman in the middle of the season won’t do us any good. We’re going to have to bleed this one out and pray that a smart hire is made for once (or that we just get lucky). We HAVE shite ourselves in the foot within the coaching community. Sad though. Used car salesman, gonna used car salesman:

We weren't going to get him. Ole Miss was a steak and blowjob deal. A very loaded team that had under performed. I love Arkansas and I would have taken the Ole Miss job instead. So would you and everyone else.

Chad lost his two games against A&M by a combined 11 points. We lost by 12 yesterday.

Sometimes a warrior just has to lay down on the ground for a minute, just stay there for second and have a good bleed. And just, just bleed.

are you adding to some perspective, bringing some past struggles in a stronger sport currently to light, or being a jerk?

Either way, I'm loving it.

It should have had " " as it is a direct quote. The clueless look of the presenter is needed for proper context.

Sam must have really pissed off some media ppl behind the scenes over the last week or two.

There are multiple ppl piling on and being brutally honest (finally).

All of the 247 guys have seemed to turn on him in an instant after previously doing nothing but carrying his water for 3.5 yrs.

Irwin as well.

Steve Sullivan, too.

Even Randy Rainwater seems to be done with him.

Also lots of former players (even in other sports) starting to openly call for a new coach.

Hunter can try to delay the inevitable all he wants, but if it gets too toxic, he has to pull the trigger. I've really never seen the arkansss media in unison turn this fast. Pittman must have truly sent out the 'F U' signal to all of them with something.

If he's back next year, season ticket sales will be abysmal. I say that assuming the rest of the season will go as badly as I think.

I hope a miracle happens and we turn it around, but it sure as hell doesn't look like that it's even possible.

It really is unusual how quickly the media has changed course. This has potential to be worse than Nutt.

Hmm I may be able to finally snatch up those two seats next to me if this happens. Tough decision on what to root for here.
