The new Petty Museum on campus is the shite. Really focuses on the deep ties to the University.

What kind of idiotic rag is that from?

Proof that Petty was a slacker back in his UF days.

What does this have to do with sports?

my wife had always maintained she doesn’t like Tom Petty. like as long as we’ve been dating. I was perplexed but eventually accepted this. people’s tastes are people’s tastes but i always found Petty at least pretty unobjectionable.
then suddenly last week she tells me that she in fact doesn’t like Tom Waits. which you know, big difference.

Not being anti-UF in saying this, but many regard him as an overrated rocker. I agree.
Just because he was inspired by Elvis, was friends with George Harrison, was given guitar lessons from Don Fedler of the Eagles, well, so what. Personally, I just didn't care for his music. Petty was addicted to heroin and pot like so many others so I just can't pick a reason why he's so outstanding and different from most others in his music genre.
He was the one most influenced, imo; he didn't do much influencing except to what others had already been doing and he followed them in their footsteps.

Tom Petty wasn't a football fan.

I don’t get why everyone picks on Florida for completely fabricating a make-believe relationship between their team and Tom Petty
Let them have something I say

The waiting for a championship is the hardest part.

He influenced possibly the most successful artist of all-time, Taylor Swift.

You guys don't have to fabricate anything. This guy is always calling Baton Rouge. In his starched Wranglers. And Purina themed blouse.
