If Bama was undefeated and #1 right now would their fans still think the sport is ruined?

They do not look like Bama of old but they have so much talent I do not doubt they go to the SECG.

Now, they lose to Ole Miss at home and then I think its probably finished. That is how tight of the margins are at the moment which is crazy to think about

I don’t think the sport is ruined, but I don’t think any fans really like the impact that NIL and the portal are having on the sport, though. Those complaints aren’t exclusive to Alabama fans. It’s a fact that those things are changing the sport, and not all of that change is exactly good.

It's causing parity and there is nothing wrong with that.

I think it's frustrating to the point everything changes so quickly, but I think parity is good for the sport. Blue bloods probably hated when the scholarship rules changed.

They’ll fill a river with tears before this season is over.

“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times. Good times create weak men, weak mean create hard times.”

I think we all know which cycle of that phase Bama is at now. Their players are so much softer, mentally and physically, than some of Saban’s prior teams, it is really obvious. It has nothing to do with any changes in college football. The change is within the mentality of the players.

They thought their covid champion season was a legitimate season so that goes to show you what they think…

When in reality they ain’t won since 2017

Hard not to see the transfer portal + NIL complaints as sour grapes across the board (not exclusive to Bama).

Conference realignment is bullshite though

This is the most interesting season in a long time.

Largely due to bama’s absence and increased parity

Bama sitting in the corner for a while will heal the sport, imo

Probably still mathematically favored to win the SEC west but LSU dismantling MSU at home is impressive...and ATM is quietly kind of getting better and better...Bama may be mathematically favored but they for sure aint a shoe in...

This is literally it. It's causing more parity and more 5 stars are going to different places. I saw that Arizona and Tech Tech and even Rocky Top and the gators got some 5 stars.

Bama cannot hoard them all anymore.

The question is will it be 2007 level parity?

I have thought it was headed down the path to ruin ever since conference realignment took off a few yrs ago. Not when we added SCe and Arky but when TAMU and Mizzou joined the SEC. The NIL business was the last straw.

I don't really care that Bama has went off the rails this season. It's just a game and I'm not a bandwagon fan. Started following them in the late 70's. I've witnessed nine NCs under Bryant, Stallings, and Saban. I hope St. Nick has another one left in him before he goes to the lake but if not, just grateful he made Bama elite again.

If you don’t like NIL and the portal you don’t like capitalism and America.

It sakes someone really focused on Bama to want to start this thread.

If you read our board this is exactly the sentiment of the fans right now. The transfer portal has done nothing but benefit Alabama. NIl has not killed Alabama Drake May decommitting was about having ties to NC and not NIL. It’s a cycle and 15 yrs is a long arse cycle. Bama will be back at some point and will likely still be one of the 12 teams somewhere in that grouping. It may not be 1-4 every year like before but they’ll still be good enough under Saban to achieve that. Fans need to chill a little and just try to enjoy the team growing this year if they do. Won’t be a lot of turnover next year but maybe there needs to be.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting Alabama to fall from the most dominant program ever to a very good/elite program, just not one that will win a natty every other year.

It’s glorious.
