Did LSU call Pete Golding for advice? Who moves him off the edge?? Like dropping Will Anderson into coverage.

the bigger and more immediate question is will the LSU coaching staff move him back to the edge? How long will this experiment last?

I'm going to admit, I didn't even realize their coaching staff had done this during the offseason.
Can someone give us the short version of why they decided to do so?

Kelly digs in his heels on Perkins
Kelly is right about Perkins...just ask him

One of the things they sold Perkins on was that they could develop him into an NFL linebacker (DC was LB coach with the Chiefs previously).
I would assume that's likely what happened with Will Anderson as well.

I mean I guess this makes sense if they think moving him to a different level would allow him to flow to anywhere the ball is, as opposed to being limited to one side.
It also seems like it would bring with it a whole set of different reads and potential coverages, but apparently they felt like he could do it.
Hope for his sake it works out, especially considering his break-out moments off the edge last season.

It's that balance between developing the player and doing what's best for the team.

I agree they need to rush him from the edge on passing downs.
Problem is lsu fans overrated him. He is 220 lbs so clearly can’t play the edge on all 3 downs.
Comparing him to Anderson is an insult to Anderson.

Exactly. Perkins has the best lateral pursuit, so having him in the middle is best for the team. Unfortunately, he won't get many sacks that way.

He can get just as many sacks.
But the playcall has to design him to fire (usually means they send 5 or back someone else off).

Well, UGA played Lorenzo Carter at DB for a play instead of letting him rush the passer, and the result was a loss on a Hail Mary.
