Drink sounds like he's ready to name cook as QB1

Anyone else watch the post game presser?
While I like Cook I also want a fair QB competition. Last night was nothing close to that. Cook got 21 pass plays to Horns 5. Basically they had horn hand it off every play.
Post game Drink says to ESPN, basically you have to pick the guy that scores the most. He also said that Cook is in the lead for the spot and that's why he's starting first half. No desire to let horn start first half next week. If his daughters were over 18 he'd want them to date Brady Cook. Then as he's leaving you can hear him tell staff to go get Brady to speak to the press.
This feels decided.

Lol. What the point playing 2 then? Probably to placate us fans as we’d scream bloody murder and rightfully so. Nothing I saw from Cook demo’s any improved ability.
If he doesn’t start Horn first half next week, the QB battle was always a sham and Eli doesnt know what he’s doing.
His one liners include:
1. Cook scoring 28
2. Horn scoring 7
3. He’d let Cook date one if his daughters if they were 18.
Fire this man into the sun.

Horn had four total series and got to throw the ball five times. Mevis missed a FG on the first series after Horn threw a 31 yd dart (followed by a not-awful but incomplete sideline attempt to the OU transfer).
On the second series, Horn rolled out and threw a bad but not awful pass behind his receiver. It popped up and was intercepted.
He then completed his last two passes to the TE for eight yards and then a short pass on 3 and goal from the 15 to Burden for a TD.
If someone told me that Drink purposefully blew the entire second half to set the narrative for Brady Cook, it wouldn’t surprise me. I’m not saying that’s what happened. I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me.
We’re still a penalty-prone team. It’s the first game. But I’m not expecting a giant leap forward after last night.

There is absolutely no reason this team shouldn’t be more of a threat vertically with the WR talent we have. No excuse. Especially to try airing it out against a shite team.

1) not only does it feel like the QB battle is over, but there was never really one.
2) It was against a weak team, but Cook did seem a little bit better than last year. Remember, a little better would have also meant 2-4 more wins last year.

Horn threw 5 fricking passes 1 dart 31 yarder, 1 not great throw but INT becasue it bounced of the reciever, 1 scramble on 3rd to TE for a 1st, 1 short route to Burden for a TD and 1 incomplete back shoulder fade caught but out of bounds. Cook fricking 21 throws added to that is the typpical shite team let down when up in the 2nd half. If I was Horn I would transfer.

That back shoulder pass was damn close. Kid can make the throws.

Cook still can’t read a defense. South Dakota is a .500 team in the MVC and a FBS QB should be able to do what he did last night.
One negative takeaway from Horn is he didn’t always look comfortable in the pocket. It’s better to step back in the pocket and throw the ball away than run up to line to get a yard or 2 and get drilled by a defensive lineman or LB. Against a better defense he will get smoked. We will play against better defense’s the rest of the year.
The INT looked like Miller was running a simple stick route, but he never made it to 45 and instead of stopping Miller slowing moved to the sideline where Peat was running the wheel. If Horn would have waited Peat might have been open, but Miller should have stopped and he would have been wide open. Because the DB was on the outside the ball should have been thrown to the inside.

It is painfully clear his upside is way higher. Cook has the intangibles but lacks the higher level skills. He lacks the arm strength or the ability to red the D quickly.

Does anyone remember when we could drop 5-600 yards on a team the quality of SS with like 300+ passing yards and 3 TDs?
Cook can’t even beat up pond scum programs. It’s sad.

Drink is a mediocre head coach, he's proven that already. Only his play calling is worse than his actual coaching.
If I hit the lottery, I'll buy spots for all of us on the roster, who still have eligibility

I think it's a good bet that he will. He should know by now that Drink has a love affair with Cook. Horn won't want to stand on the sidelines for the next couple of years.
And he may well drop out to focus on baseball.

And then Drink will make a statement to the press about players who aren’t committed to reaching their potential the right way.

Drink just comes across disingenuous…one game in and doesn’t look like much progress from last year. This season could go sideways in a hurry if the offense doesn’t get it together. Horn did not look thrilled last night in the clip of him coming off the field.

Broadcast showed another clip after the game ended where Horn was laughing and joking around with Burden. I bet he’s frustrated but I doubt if he transfers out before the season ends or anything like that

I dont think horn will transfer, it's his job when drink is fired or when cook is gone after next year. He will have 2 years as starter and can play baseball.
