Spent some time there on a medical residency recruiting trip and you are entirely correct.

The fact you inbreed Fuchs think tat “culture” or “wokeness” is at all on play is hilarious.

Culture is a secondary factor to money, but it is a factor.

ay is hilarious. It is all about money

This is certainly the primary factor

and tv markets.

No tv markets mattered 15 years ago, they don’t now because most people have dropped cable. The game now is all about media rights value or in other words how much can I sell advertising for during their game?

quote:

UVA and UNC are the big boy universities in their states.

Academically? Absolutely
Athletically? Both schools have strong basketball followings, but are anemic when it comes to football which is what drives most of the media rights value equation.

If just being a flagship school in a major state was all that mattered Cal-Berkeley wouldn’t have been left behind in the now defunct Pac12 and on the verge of having to shutdown their football operations due to bankruptcy.

UVA doesn’t sell ads the way UNC does for football and UNC doesn’t sell ads the way FSU or Clemson do which is why you never see UVA/UNC in marquee primetime games and Clemson is featured weekly on ESPN.

If it is all about money as you suggested the schools would be ranked:
1) Clemson
2) FSU
3) UNC

4) UVA

University of Mississippi

I taught there for 2 years. It was one of the most left leaning Univerisy administrations I've seen.

Spent 3 weeks in Charlottesville a couple of months ago attending a class at UVA.

Loved every bit of it. Beautiful campus. Charlottesville is small, but fun. Lots of pride in the school. Although, we have enough orange in the conference color schemes for my taste.

Get rid of all of the “woke” schools in the SEC! Give me an SEC with A&M, Auburn, Mississippi State, East Mississippi Junior College, Bob Jones, and Liberty!

because you watched a poorly done Indy film about a couple super liberal snots you don’t believe that UVA would be a good fit in the SEC?

No, but I've watched enough of their games to know they don't give two shits about football.

It would instantly be the best public university in the conference, and probably the most beautiful campus.

Don't let the sociology needs scare you off. Those phaggots boo the business school grads at every ceremony.

Well, they don't have the winning pedigree of Ole Miss...

UVA brings absolutely nothing to the table. Terrible football program that hasn’t won shite. Small school who doesn’t even dominate the Richmond market. Ole Miss has been a top 10 team back to back seasons. frick off.

For whatever it's worth, University of Alabama's original campus was modeled after UVA but it was largely burned to the ground by a Union army during the Civil War.

Top ten?! TOP TEN?! Idc if UVA or UNC get in or not but at least they managed to win championships in a sport people watch. Wake me up when Ole Miss manages the same, champ. Oh, sorry. I probably shouldn't have used champ there. My bad.

Didn't UVA win a national title in basketball a few years back?

Okay, so they have more major men's championships than ole miss in that time period?

Just asking for clarification...

True but there haven’t been many primetime slots for UNC since Butch Davis left.

Not to say they couldn’t become a major player overnight if their boosters got involved with NIL for football but that focus hasn’t ever been a real priority in Chapel Hill.
