SEC has to be salivating at the chance to gain a foothold in those 2 states.

Hearing rumors that it may happen as early as tomorrow.

The SEC doesn't need to grow right now. It's still trying to figure out how to get additional revenue from ESPN for a ninth conference game, so adding more teams into the mix before Texas and Oklahoma play a down seems insane.

Also, there has to be some sort of upper bound regarding the number of teams the Big Ten takes. I'm shocked they seem to be moving rapidly to add Oregon and Washington, but that brings them to 18. Do they really want Stanford and Cal to bring it to 20? What if Notre Dame wants to join? A Southern school? I don't see how it's remotely possible to have a conference with more than 24 teams, so the SEC doesn't need to make any moves while the Big Ten slurps up programs to dilute their product.

Why? Nobody watches either in football. It's not about markets or footprint anymore.

I must have been asleep for the last decade because everyone is talking about these ACC schools jumping ship but I missed the part about getting out of their GoR, which ends in the next decade.

Can someone fill me in?

They don’t matter bc most of our games will be on ESPN or cable TV. Cable tv is going to have a monopoly on SEC fans, and people outside the SEC with cable can watch us. More games on network TV is where it’s at. Where footprints and markets still matter. How many games do we get a year on ABC, where all the eyeballs are at?? I hate we left CBS bc they helped build our brand into what is today.

Gary Danielson was reason enough to leave CBS.

Only way it happens is if Clemson/FSU can convince enough other ACC members to jump ship. I guess it could happen if they think they need to secure their future now with the Big 12.

Even then, the SEC isn’t looking at UVA or UNC.

Somewhere, the ghost of Mike Slive smiles. Because that was his original plan. UNC and UVA. He made no bones about it. That was his target.

It certainly does matter as that's how advertising revenue works for the broadcasters/streamers.

Why add universities even shittier and more unworthy than Aggy, Mizzou, and UTA?

Kick them out and add FSU, Clemson, and NC St

The amount of people you can get to subscribe to a service is going to become a bigger deal. You advertise to none of the people not subscribed.
