The SEC doesn't need to grow right now. It's still trying to figure out how to get additional revenue from ESPN for a ninth conference game, so adding more teams into the mix before Texas and Oklahoma play a down seems insane.
Doesn't matter, they'll figure it out.

You need to break up the ACC for the SEC to plunder it, so you need a two-pronged attack. Get the teams you want (UNC, Clemson, Va Tech maybe, Fla State maybe); and push the northern schools to break off and reform the Big East.

Or, here's a novel idea- 2 24 team superconferences. 4 6 team divisions each, you have a conference semifinal round, and a conference championship.
And then, the conference winners play each other for "the title". This, of course, would require that these conferences both agree that they wouldn't play in the NCAA tournament... but general consensus would be that the B1G-SEC winner would be the real champ.

It's not about markets or footprint anymore.

People still think this matters. It's mind boggling.

The fans and viewers of UNC and Virginia will take the SEC into outer space. Who cares what the Big 10 does. Lot of fans in those two states. Those are two very populated states. Don’t forget basketball either. Would be huge to get those two schools

There will be two super conferences whether we like it or not. Get UNC and Virginia to get the ball rolling

They still make their money off of commercials, not subscriptions.
