When is the last time you went into a season knowing your team had no shot at a CFB title?

Obviously Ole Miss, Arky, TexAM, Missouri, MSU, Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas experience this feeling every preseason. This thread isn’t for their fans.

Curious about the heavy hitters of the league though. For me, 2020 and 2021 I knew we were DOA. Orgeron being the reason.

Any input welcome.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way.

I’ll help you out.

LSU has no shot at a CFB Title this year.

You dumb baws worshipped Coach O after 2019, you'd have probably let him bang your wife. Don't try to rewrite history and act like you knew he'd fizzle out

I'll admit, I thought 2020 was going to be good. We had Chase and Marshall returning, with Brennan stepping in at QB (upperclassman with a strong arm). Defense was expected to be good, with an NFL secondary. It felt like a reload, not a rebuild

2017 ended up making the run, but we had no clue heading into '17 what would happen.

Eta

I thought we were going to be fine in 2020. And honestly, we might have been had Brennan not gotten hurt for the year. Not national title good, but not 500 bad.

It appeared that the offense was still running the same scheme and I remember re watching the Missouri game and dudes were wide arse open, he just double clutches a little and misses them.

I had no hope of us being any good in 2021

I am a hopeless optimist this time every year. Each August I'm thinking we'll go undefeated and unscored upon.

When did LSU fans become such little bitches?

The Vols and LSU fanbases are insufferable sometimes with this self perceived greatness.

Sit the frick down turtle dick.

Our OL was atrocious for the better part of a decade. I mean Sun Belt level atrocious. TBH, this is the first time in a long while I actually feel like we have the depth and talent to really compete at a high level.

Probably 2008. I thought we'd finish 10-3 and make the Cotton Bowl. Never in a million years did I see us going 12-0 in the regular season.

For 2 weeks last year, Vandy was #1 in the SEC. I forgot who they played a week earlier than everyone else.
