It's not going to be the same in 2023 without Mike Leach on the sidelines...

Not just on the sidelines but on this planet. Without a doubt everyone's second favorite coach in the SEC after their own, unless you're an Ole Miss fan of course.
He had some of the best candid moments of any head coach in the history of the sport.

I feel like he was just hitting his stride in the SEC.

Agree, his interviews were some of the best. RIP Mike!

He fit like a glove for our program and fanbase (RIP Coach Leach). While many others will cast doubt on Arnett, get ready to have your feelings hurt..

He hadn't had his 2008 Tech/2018 Wazzu season yet.

He improved his win record each year
4-7 (covid year all SEC schedule)
7-6
9-4
He would have had a stacked upperclassman team in 2023 and more favorable schedule and might have gotten 10 wins

a good man that will be greatly missed.

Even though he was at State, I’m pretty sure he was still most Ole Miss fans second favorite coach.

One of one. Rest in peace coach. We will never see another.

Not only a head coach but a character who seemed larger than life.

Everyone on earth but Craig James loved that dude.
Definitely will be missed.

Was thinking about that this week. My all time favorite coach any level/any sport with exception to Darrell K Royal.
Despite sharing close friends I never had the opportunity to meet him, missing by mere hours due to travel/schedule etc.. He was an amazingly interesting person to the point I would listen to post game pressors at all of his stops from Tech to MSU.
I can only imagine the conversations he's having in the afterlife with Geronimo, Blackbeard & Calico Jack.
"No, I never had to deal with scurvy or malaria.. but we had this issue with fat girlfriends. It was a real struggle you see."

He was one of a kind on a national scale. I feel like at the same time everyone has known someone who is like Mike in their real life. That’s why I’ve always rooted for his teams.
For me it was our shop and history teacher named Mr. Jim. He seemed to know something about everything, had a genuine interest in people, completely disarming, incredible at what he did, and seemed to be exempt from the formalities everyone else followed either because he was joyfully aloof or couldn’t care less and for some reason none of his peers or superiors tried to hold him accountable to it.
Going to miss Mike Leach.

I don’t care if they ever compete for national championships, having people like Mike Leach around makes college football a better sport and most of all a more fun sport to follow. This was a monumentally tragic loss for the entire sport, not just for State.

I flew on a plane across the aisle from him, from Dallas Love Field to Lubbock and we had an interesting conversation about Bobby Knight.
