re: What is the general consensus here on ranking of SEC campuses based on scenic beauty?

Fun Fact:
In the 90's, many schools were going in the direction of cutting down trees and modernizing campuses with fancy new buildings and such. At UGA, when Vince Dooley became AD, he also spearheaded the arboretum commission to preserve all the old trees on campus, when asshats like Michael Adams wanted to turn the place into Dubai. Vince personally and passionately stopped much (but not all) of that bullshite, so much of the old quaint UGA campus that remains today is because of Vince Dooley putting his foot down and wagging the dog.

Athens is miles ahead of Baton Rouge. LSU's campus is more beautiful though. Georgia's campus is nice for like half an acre but the rest of the campus is like a Soviet disaster site

I ranked entirely on landscaping, foliage, and buildings. If you're really fishing, NWA is the most beautiful area but that's not really the campus

Don’t know if they’re still there, but 20 years ago they had some old plans for campus framed in the entrance to the reading room in the library.
A few of the buildings on it were built, but then they discovered yellow brick and things went haywire.
If they would have followed the original plan it would have been pretty impressive.

UK has had a lot of remodeling and new construction on campus over the last decade. Some really nice buildings going up. Not going to claim it's the nicest in the SEC by any stretch, campus is in the middle of the city after all.

For a football game, I could see why one would believe this to be the case. Especially compared to Bama. I do like the layout you guys have with the sorority houses and Denny Chimes being so close to the stadium.
From a students perspective, LSU is awesome. Depending on your major, 90% of your classes could be in the Quad.

I studied engineering in the 90s, so I was stuck at CEBA with all the homely girls. Requirements in humanities salvaged a few semesters, though. The Quad was loaded with good looking girls.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We heard tale that their are certain 1950s soviet architects that love our campus.
Is there actually a campus ranked BELOW us? i doubt TN can claim that.
I will end with this though- the beauty of the people graduating from our ugly ol’ campus is second to none.

This is typical of many land grant institutions. Take Auburn as an example. Beautiful, well maintained grounds. But quite a few of the buildings look like they were designed in 1968 by a government architect, just a big brick square. If you've ever been to many college campuses with this sort of funding structure, you'll know what I mean. Not all but the style is not at all uncommon.

The campuses are improving yearly whether a land grant institution or not.
As I have mentioned before I attend away games since the 80's (although age is slowly catching up and the visitor seating is atrocious) and have watched every campus evolve and improve every two years.
What Miss State has done with the campus over the past 5 - 10 years is impressive.

Enjoyed LSU, Vandy, Gainesville & Tuscaloosa.
Thought Lexington, Auburn, College Station, & Fayetteville all had charm.
Haven’t been to USCe, Knoxville or MS schools.

I had to go to Lee County in West Georgia just last month to attend a wedding (I was volunteered), but I admittedly didn't go on campus. Heck, I even had to ask my wife to drive the last few miles. Not sure I could have done it on my own.

Maybe so, but the roots are undeniable. There was a time not too long ago when someone could have dropped you down into the middle of the campus of Auburn, Miss State, Nebraska, Clemson, New Mexico State, Kentucky, Kansas State, etc etc etc and you would have had a hard time figuring out which school you were at. I have been to all those schools and they all used to look the same. Seriously, BUILDING STYLES, people... I'm not knocking the SCHOOL, it's just not the Greek Revival I am used to.

Wow. The live oaks on LSU's campus are magnificent, so this comment is questionable at best.
