As many people have outlined before here US News is not a valid source

If you look at their methodology they have…

20% peer opinion (what would other professors rate your college)

5% social mobility (wtf)

7% professor salary

8% class size

Once again please stop posting this garbage

US news is a joke. What metrics did they use for this. We are an AAU school although I admit we're behind the other AAU schools in the confernce but we're not 8th.

AAU status reflects graduate level research. US News ranks each school on an undergraduate level.

Well, let's just say the SEC West is a giant national embarrassment when it comes to academics. And they still can't win a football National Championship in the last two years.

Gotta leave academics and football to the East.

quote:

Schools like Auburn are not their states' flagship institutions - the majors you offer are thus limited. Schools like UF and UGA are indeed their states' flagships: They must offer degrees for virtually EVERY profession in their state that may require a college education. This is, obviously, not limited to finance, engineering, pre-law, pre-med, etc. It includes criminal justice, nursing, early childhood education, political science, etc. Moreover, redneck schools like Auburn do not offer the melange of liberal arts that ennoble the mind even if they do not lead to high salaries.

UGA is the only school in the country that offers degrees in both Drag Performance and Drag Racing.

UGA has higher input scores (SAT / ACT / GPA) and output scores (employment / grad placement) than almost 20 schools "ranked" ahead of it.

UGA is not diverse, which kills their ranking.

Based on objective metrics of actual achievement, UGA should be ranked #32, displacing USCB (which has significantly worse test scores than UGA).

Outside of Vandy, UF, UGA, and South Carolina, every other SEC school has acceptance rates higher than 70%.
Some, like Auburn, are as high as 80. Sad.

Certain people always get mad when this comes out every year. "There's no way UF should be ranked that high!"
